New Zealand-based supergroup 0800 caps off the year with an anthemic summer tune, ‘ALL YOU NEED.’
Coming on the back of their last single, ‘EMPIRE,’ Aotearoa’s famed hip-hop group 0800 delivers the final offering of 2023 with the experimental track, ‘ALL YOU NEED.’ A steady guitar plucking nether a distorted vocal segment kicks off ‘ALL YOU NEED,’ as it glides into tag-team verses with the members talking about their personal experiences about the compulsion to flaunt material possessions to seek validation or substantiate their worth. The elegant back-and-forth rap culminates with a dreamy outro laying down distinct horns, synth works and mellowed vocals.
Comprised of producers, rappers, and singer-songwriters Josh Strand, Matt Leslie, Tino Nyangoni, Johann Frauenlob, and Daniel Keller, 0800 shares their take on consumerism and those who desire to chase superfluity in ‘ALL YOU NEED.’ In a statement, the band notes their belief that “genuine happiness stems from pursuing a passion or purpose in life, with music serving as a more fulfilling endeavor.”
Touted as one of New Zealand’s rising hip-hop collectives with wide international recognition, 0800 marked themselves on the radar with their smash 2019 hit single, ‘DONDE.’ The group has since released two successful EPs – ‘ATTENTION FOR A SECOND’ in 2021 and the latest project ‘SAY LESS’ in 2023.
