Rahul U Enlists Sarah Shipchandler On New Single, ‘Shikayatein’

Delving into themes of lost love, multifaceted musician Rahul U presents his latest composition, ‘Shikayatein,’ reeling in vocalist Sarah Shipchandler as a collaborator yet again.

‘Shikayatein’ (complaints/criticism in Hindi) is solemnly dressed in a soothing key melody, with poignant vocals courtesy of Rahul Uplenchwar, who goes by Rahul U. Sung against a somber tempo, Sarah’s dulcet voice adds fineness to the music, while her backing harmonies deliver graciously.

The latest tune is one of the compositions that sit on Rahul U’s EP ‘Bikhre Gulab’ and its Hindi lyrics reflect the emptiness of yearning for a lost love. Rahul U wrote and composed the song, with music producer Vachan Wadhwa chairing the mixing and master duties.

Sarah returns to work with Rahul U after previously featuring on the rabid hip-hop-meets-classical track, ‘Piya,’ released in January 2024.

“It’s about a boy who deeply loves his partner, feeling her presence everywhere even after they’ve separated,” says Rahul. Discussing the music construction, the singer-songwriter adds, “Drawing from personal experiences, we aimed for simplicity both in melody and lyrics to capture a universal feeling that resonates with many who are in love.”
