German music producer Toby Gad contributes to the legacy of the Queen of Disco, Donna Summer, by crafting a trio of fresh remixes of her unreleased song ‘Run.’
Producer Toby Gad finds his name in music lore for his many songwriting and production contributions, from Fergie’s ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ and ‘If I Were a Boy’ by Beyoncé, to John Legend’s Billboard Hot 100 number one ‘All of Me.’
Recently, the songwriter revisited his time working with the late Donna Summer (with whom he collaborated on her final studio album, ‘Crayons‘) to harvest dance tunes with a contemporary electronic twist. Two decades after ‘Run’ or ‘Run With It’ was first written, Toby Gad has revived Donna Summer’s vocal prowess and presents the ‘She Works Hard for the Money’ and ‘Hot Stuff’ singer in a completely new light to dance music enthusiasts.
Coincidentally, the song opens with the lyrics “Imagine you standing there 20 years from now, staring yourself in the mirror alone,” and each of the three mixes arrives with diverse energy and sound palettes. Stemming from his ‘RUN’ (Piano Diaries) mix, this ‘Lollapalooza Mix’ evokes carefree emotions drenched in piano-soaked melody.
Shifting away from the techno pulses on the previously released ‘RUN (Tomorrowland Mix), the music courses through a more euphoric, soulful, and meditative soundscape with its rich electronic arrangements. Next on the agenda in the trilogy is the ‘Ibiza Mix,’ out soon.
