New Zealand’s electronic dance music frontrunners, United. pins yet another visionary debut, welcoming UKG juggernaut Dec Duffy for a pop up showcase in February. Cheshire-bred DJ/producer Dec Duffy touches down in Auckland on February 13 for a sizzling show swirled around groove, flow, and early evening vibes. Gates open at 6 PM at the laid-back, newly minted nami record bar on Ponsonby Road. Tickets to Dec Duffy’s pop up show in Auckland are now available on Ticket Fairy.
Soaked in the vibrations of UK garage and 90s house while growing up, Dec Duffy pulls from both to carve out a sound of his own. Owing to his magnetic production style, the producer already counts releases on Interplanetary Criminal’s ATW Records and UK label Moxy Muzik, among others, while also fronting his own imprint, Decked (launched November 2024).
Dec Duffy swoops into Auckland as part of a debut tour across Australia and New Zealand, with shows locked in for Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth. Plug in tracks ‘Boss It,’ ‘Big Buddha,’ ‘Heaven,’ and ‘Manifest’ for a nibble of Dec Duffy ahead of his arrival.
We took this opportunity to speak with the artist and gain some insights about the tour.
TFword: How does it feel to now bring your sound to Australia and New Zealand for the first time?
Dec Duffy: Bringing my sound to Australia and New Zealand for the first time feels incredible! I’m super hyped to see how the crowds react compared to the UK. It’s a whole new vibe.
TF: What can fans expect from your set in Auckland? Are there any surprises lined up for this leg of the tour?
Dec Duffy: My set in Auckland is gonna be a journey! I love building the tempo and energy throughout the night, so expect a real progression. And yeah, there’s a surprise in store – I’ll be doing a set on George FM, which I’m seriously buzzing about!
TF: Are there any DJs or producers from Australia or New Zealand who have inspired you, or any artists you’d love to collaborate with while on this tour?
Dec Duffy: Definitely! Osmosis Jones and Scrappa are two producers from Melbourne who are absolutely killing it. Their production is unreal. Collabing with either of them would be sick.
TF: Outside of the gigs, is there anything you’re looking forward to experiencing while in New Zealand and Australia?
Dec Duffy: Beyond the gigs, I’m keen to dive into the local culture and see what makes New Zealand and Australia tick. Oh, and I’ve heard whispers about some unique Aussie alcohol I need to sample, haha!
TF: What’s next for you after this tour? Any projects, tours, or releases your fans should be excited about?
Dec Duffy: So much is coming up! I’ve got releases lined up on EC2A, MOXY MUZIK, and OG AMSTERDAM. I’ll be keeping you updated.
TF: Anything else you’d like to highlight about your first time in AUNZ?
Dec Duffy: Just the fact that I’m finally here in AUZ/NZ is a highlight in itself. I’ve been wanting to make this happen for ages, and I’m stoked to connect with the fans and experience everything this part of the world has to offer.
George FM resident DJ ZOZO, genre-fluid act LYALL, and garage and house specialist Skellig are set to handle warm-up duties for the concert.
