Delhi-based electronica powerhouse Tech Panda x Kenzani dial up their folktronica obsession with their first drop of 2026.
‘Bombay Drama‘ catches Tech Panda x Kenzani at their playful best, stirring their staple South Asian flavors with upbeat Afro-rhythms and periodic bursts of brass.
Opening with looping percussion and effervescent house elements, the duo frames an elegant blend of vintage dance textures layered over a rousing beat. Also pressed in are glowing synths that weave through ominous tones, which mirror soundtracks found in old-school thriller and mafia movies.
About the release, the duo shared in a press statement, “We jump into our electronic element as we release ‘Bombay Drama.’ Being the first release of 2026, it is the perfect intro track for what’s coming next.”
They added, “We wanted something that was subtle yet expressed our emotions when it came to recall value, and the sound is mysterious, fun, and exhilarating – all at the same time.”
Released alongside the track is one of India’s first fully AI-generated music videos. Filmmaker-producer Kashskyler sits in the director’s chair and seamlessly matches the track’s throwback gangster and crime film-style score. AI versions of Kashskyler, Tech Panda, Kenzani, and graphic designer Mohit Bhagat all take the spotlight.
Playing out like a thrilling, high-stakes train heist, the music video depicts Tech Panda and Kenzani traveling aboard a steam-powered train chugging through a sandy desert under the blazing heat. Bandits Kashskyler and Mohit Bhagat are at full throttle among a flock of speeding cars on the prowl for a DJ console, which is locked away in a storage compartment.
Chasing down the train and busting in from atop the carriage, they successfully trace and attempt to get away with the deck containing, in all likelihood, the master of ‘Bombay Drama.’ Their robbery is foiled when Tech Panda and Kenzani charge in, overpowering them in hand-to-hand combat and eventually tossing the thieves off the moving train.
After their exit, the rest of the video and journey follows a lively DJ session aboard the train steered by Tech Panda x Kenzani, wrapping up with a cliffhanger shot of Kashskyler and the message, “To Be Continued…”
