UK-based DnB producer and label owner Teej finally steps into the land down under for his debut tour of the region.
Teej was initially scheduled to run the gauntlet across Australia and New Zealand a while back; however, his appearances were pulled due to the worldwide lockdown. Now, in April 2026, he finally arrives armed with five more years of experience behind the decks and a versatile button-pushing approach that spans DnB, 140, and garage.
Tyler Gutsell, also known as Teej, stands at the forefront of sculpting a new wave of 130-174 BPM music and leads his own imprint, NYX Recordings, propelling forward sounds from the underground while exploring minimal, dark, and experimental shades of electronic music.
We caught up with the Bristol-based music producer and label owner to talk about this upcoming tour, which spans eight cities, namely Auckland, Napier, Dunedin, Christchurch, Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney.
TFword: How does it feel to now bring your sound to Australia and New Zealand?
Teej: Coming to this part of the world is not only long overdue but amazing, full stop. I had a tour booked, and it got shut down just before the COVID-19 lockdown hit 5 years ago, so to finally be able to come over to the number 2 and 3 biggest supporting countries of my music is a blessing, and I’m so excited to meet so many of the people I have spoken to over the years.
TF: What can attendees anticipate from your set in Napier, Hawke’s Bay Region, New Zealand?
Teej: Honestly, expect 98% dubs with a few iconic bits thrown in for good measure. I’m using this not only as an opportunity to exercise all this new music I’ve been working on, but also all of my new label material that is coming out over the next year. Dark, minimal, energetic vibes – what it’s all about when you come and see me play.
TF: Are there any DJs or producers from Australia or New Zealand who have inspired you or any artists you’d love to collaborate with while on this tour?
Teej: There are so many that I can’t even begin to name, but I won’t turn down the opportunity to shout out Xsetra. Ed’s a big part of my label and an incredible producer, and I can’t wait to link with him. Also, shout out to DEEPSTATE and Helix, two students of mine who have made such massive progress that it’s inspired me to get better, too. Will definitely be linking up with all of them whilst I’m out there. Also, he’s not from either of these places, but my brother Napes is out there with me, so if you think there won’t be something cold cooked up whilst we are out there, you’re nuts.
TF: Outside of the gigs, is there anything you’re looking forward to experiencing while in New Zealand and Australia?
Teej: Honestly, the people. I’ve made so many mates over the years, virtually, so to see them and be able to have a brew with some of my people is going to be great. I also can’t wait to see one of those little happy buggers that are constantly smiling – bucket list animal find for me.
TF: Looking ahead, what’s next for you after this tour? Any projects, tours, or releases your fans should be excited about?
Teej: All steam ahead with the label for sure. I’ve got some music to put out myself (also a couple of bits that are coming out whilst I’m out there, which will be fun to promote with the time difference!), and also some more drum and bass that really isn’t of the usual style by myself on two of my favorite labels, which is nerve-racking but also very exciting!
