Trigga Fingaz presents Jungle Cakes – Meanjin/Brisbane Takeover!
We’re running it back in a BIG way.
After two road-block years, we know how much of a crowd favourite Ed Solo is… so we’re bringing the Jungle Cakes don back for the third year in a row. You asked, we listened. Expect nothing but tremendous vibes from the master of party-starting DnB.
Firing up the bassbins and hitting you hard with a dose of raggamuffin junglist energy is what Ed Solo is all about. From Glastonbury to Canada's Shambhala, from dirty Brixton back rooms to Spanish arenas, Ed has travelled the globe throwing down his unique brand of ruffneck bassline bravado for more than a decade.
And if that wasn’t enough… we’re coming in hot with not one, not two but THREE headliners. Joining us for the takeover is none other than Deekline and Trigga Fingaz head honcho & Jungle Cakes artist Filthy Philp for his first set back in the city in 18 months!
Deekline is that rare figure in dance music, the seminal producer who balances the cutting edge and the mainstream with effortless flair. Boss man chief of the Hot Cakes/Jungle Cakes collective of producers, promoters and DJs, this bonafide bass music icon is currently experiencing a new lease of life as a legendary figure to a new generation of jungle, bass and garage artists.
Filthy Philp (pronounced “FILP”) is a dynamic and genre-defying artist whose sound blends Jungle, Drum and Bass, Liquid and Funk. Shaped by his nomadic lifestyle and immersion in diverse global cultures, his music is as eclectic as his travels, with roots in the UK’s underground Drum and Bass scene and reflecting a rich tapestry of life experiences and adventures in places like Australia and Asia. Since his debut in 2017, Filthy Philp has rapidly established himself in the electronic music scene, known for his emotionally charged tracks that resonate deeply both in mind on a personal level and in body on the dancefloor. Recognized for his ability to weave diverse sounds into cohesive tracks, his sound is a blend of soulful, introspective and high energy anthems, with cinematic sound design, intricate basslines and evocative melodies.
Supporting the heavyweight imports, we’re proud to showcase the strength of the local scene. We’re handing out TWO Trigga Fingaz debuts to Alekssa X and Astrlpickle, ahead of their forthcoming release on Trigga Fingaz Records this May. Alongside them, TF mainstays De La Haye and Morthotek will be holding it down god and proper!
From soulful rollers to jungle flavours, jump-up heat to full-spectrum pressure — expect a journey across the entire spectrum of drum & bass.
This isn’t just another rave.
This is a Jungle Cakes takeover.
