Specialized Roles:
Officer Role
Commands squads or platoons, directing movements, objectives, and overall strategy.
Requires clear radio comms, quick decision-making, and a deputy for backup; often carries mission plans for higher HQ links.
Standard rifleman loadout plus leadership gear like maps or binoculars works best.
Medic Role
Revives downed teammates per event-specific rules (e.g., limited revives, bandage simulations).
Prioritizes mobility and first-aid knowledge; gear includes mock med kits and focuses on staying alive to support the team.
Signal Operator
Handles squad-to-HQ comms as a dedicated RTO (Radio Telephone Operator), often with multiple radios for different nets.
Relays intel, coordinates fire support, and assists leaders; adds elite spec-ops vibe with advanced gear like encrypted channels or long-range antennas.
The Story So Far:
It’s been just six months since the NAU fracture began. One province after another debated pulling away, but when Cascadia voted to secede—it actually happened. Few believed the Republic across the border would take their side, but diplomatic lines shifted overnight. Now the frontier is sealed, main trade corridors cut, and foreign troops are dug in along every major route east.
Here in the island territories, we’re isolated. The ferries still run when the weather allows and the local navy patrol keeps the shipping lanes open, but the mainland is crumbling fast. The capital city has been gutted by riots and scavenger markets; food stocks dwindle, and crime thrives where order used to be.
Out on the islands, things have held together—barely. Fishing fleets work overtime, keeping people fed, and the naval presence maintains a fragile calm. But a new force has emerged: a separatist faction calling itself the Free Island Front, pushing a message of “true independence.” No one knows exactly who funds them, but rumor has it foreign advisors and equipment have been slipping through remote harbors.
Meanwhile, what’s left of the NAU loyalists evacuated from the eastern provinces months ago. They’ve dug in across the hills and at the provincial assembly complex. It’s tense but quiet—for now. Civilians with hunting rifles have started choosing sides, calling themselves “militias.” Each claim to protect the island, but from whom depends on who you ask.
No one’s certain who still holds command. But one thing’s certain—what happens out here in the highlands will shape the fate of the rest of the coast.
Factions
NAU Loyalists (TAN Team)
After the NAU collapse, loyalist detachments regrouped in the western territories. Airlifted battalions and remaining federal security forces established fortified zones around the capital district, declaring themselves the last legitimate government authority. Communications east are unreliable, supplies are running low, but discipline remains their lifeline.
Command intelligence suggests armed insurgents are making moves through the mountain corridor north of the capital, possibly targeting infrastructure and communications links. Your mission: secure the key routes and prevent sabotage. Civilian foot traffic in the area has increased—tread carefully. Political tensions are high, and collateral damage will undermine what little civilian trust remains. Intelligence also warns of “foreign interference,” though official confirmation is scarce.
Free Island Front (GREEN Team)
Once dismissed as a fringe group, the Free Island Front now commands increasing support among locals demanding independence. They claim to fight for autonomy, but whispers hint at outside influence—money, weapons, and advisors arriving under the guise of humanitarian shipments. From their hidden mountain camps, they rally defectors and volunteers alike to “liberate” the island from federal rule.
Your objective: disrupt federal coordination by targeting key communication lines in the highlands. Move quietly, avoid unnecessary engagements, and control the narrative by controlling the power grid. Locals may not recognize your authority—win their cooperation through persuasion or silence them if needed. Expect patrols, and assume the area is already under surveillance.
Island Militia (CIVILIAN Team)
They aren’t soldiers, but they’re the heartbeat of the island. Farmers, fishermen, hunters, mechanics—ordinary people tired of waiting for governments to fix what’s broken. Some back the Loyalists, others the Front, and many just want peace in their corner of the world. They’ve scavenged surplus gear, built makeshift comms, and formed neighborhood watch units that border on militias.
Lately, strange activity has plagued the hills: gunfire, missing supply trucks, and nightly power outages. Officials dismiss it as “maintenance,” but everyone knows it’s more. Some locals swear they’ve seen foreign uniforms in the brush. Others claim Loyalist troops have started controlling old roads. The mayor says stay home—but you’ve decided to find out what’s really happening. The hills are alive with deception, and every side is recruiting.
