Vivid & Beyond Ladies Photography Adventure

Led by Lesley Whyte and accompanied by Sydney photographer Chris Tham, over 3-day, 4-nights, this small group Vivid & Beyond Ladies Photography Adventure explores Sydney, visiting Coal Loader, Redfern, Sydney’s laneways and behind the scenes of places only a local have access to. Experience two nights of VIVID, including a dinner cruise, amazing photographic opportunities at Darling Harbour for fireworks and light displays. Practice long exposure at Manly Beach, capture Sydney at sunrise on two mornings and sunset one night along with experiencing street / urban photography.
As with all Lesley Whyte Photography adventures all levels are catered for - beginners are VERY welcome. Led by two photographers, the all women, small group provides you with a great learning environment, including expert guidance, instruction and personal attention according to your learning style. You will leave the adventure with increased motivation, inspiration and having met some new photography BFFs.
Meet at North Sydney Harbourview Hotel after check-in, get to know each other over dinner.
Rug up warm for an early morning start for sunrise photography overlooking Sydney’s Harbour bridge. After breakfast we head to Manly on the ferry. At Manly, look for architectural photographic opportunities and at Manly Beach work on our long exposure; surf and surfers. After lunch we head back to Sydney and weave our way through some of Sydney’s lane-ways. Head to Darling Harbour for a glass of bubbles before we board our dinner harbour cruise. After dinner, we walk Darling Harbour photographing the amazing, spectacular VIVID fireworks and light displays - be prepared for a late evening finish.
Rug up warm again for our second sunrise shoot, this time at Balls Head with views over Sydney’s upper harbour, city and harbour bridge – walk the tracks with opportunities to photograph fishermen. After breakfast at Coal Loader Café, we spend the morning exploring and photographing the architecture of Coal Loader, including the dilapidated wharf. Lunch today is at Redfern with street photography, with a special behind the scene opportunity. Before we head to dinner, we photograph VIVID and sunset from Bangaroo Reserve.
Less of an early start today, we catch the train to Town Hall Station and have breakfast in town, then hit the streets for street (urban) photography, along with behind the scene street photographic opportunities. Head back to Harbourview Hotel for lunch, then moving to a conference room there is an opportunity to share your favourite five photos and explore what further processing might be required. Finish the day with our final dinner and “toast” to making some amazing new photography BFFs.
From 6.00pm on Friday 31stMay until before breakfast Tuesday 2ndJune, all you need to do is bring yourself, camera gear, warm clothes and comfortable walking shoes, with the exception of:

What is included in the price?
- All prices quoted are New Zealand dollars
- Four nights accommodation at North Sydney Harbourview Hotel (4 star)- share twin room (2 per room), although upgrade to a single room for additional NZ$100 per night (NZ$400 in total)
- Breakfast on Saturday, Sunday and Monday
- Lunch on Saturday, Sunday and Monday
- Dinner on Friday, Sunday and Monday
- Dinner Sydney Harbour cruise on Saturday, includes wine and beer
- Train, ferry, car travel in Sydney
- Heaps of company, lots of fun and amazing photographic opportunities.
What if I need to cancel? If you cancel after 1stApril 2020, up to 7th May 2020, you will be refunded the amount you have paid less a non-refundable amount of NZ$300 plus event management credit card fees if applicable. If you cancel on or after 8thMay 2020, you will be refunded 50% of your payments made.
What’s the minimum number:3 women are the minimum number for the adventure of operate. Full refunds less event management credit card fees will be provided in the event of adventure being cancelled.
How many will there be on the adventure? On this adventure, there will be a maximum of 10 women.
What to pack:A list of recommended clothing to pack will be provided, you will although need to pack your camera gear including, SD cards, tripod (preferably one which converts to monopod), variety of lenses; prime through to telephoto and filters.
Insurance: Please ensure your camera equipment is fully insured, Lesley Whyte Photography whilst we take care to provide safe adventure, we do not accept responsibility for any damage or loss to your camera, lenses, tripod, other camera gear, personal items and clothing. All participants should also carry comprehensive travel insurance.
Loan equipment available: Canon 60D, tripod, backpack and a selection of Canon lenses and filters are available for use at no cost; prime 35mm, 50mm 18-55mm 55-250mm and Tamron 150-600mm G2.
Do I get a discount if I pay in full now? Yes – there is an early bird special of 10% if you pay in full before 1stNovember 2019.
Can I pay the deposit and the balance later? Yes, of course, pay the $300 deposit, with balance payable 1stApril 2020.
