TF Daily Feed: Dubai Opens New Museum of the Future

After passing legislation to make plastics obsolete within the next two years, Dubai is preparing to take us on a voyage into the future with their latest ‘Museum of the Future’.

The Museum of the Future in Dubai was unveiled on 22 February, 2022. This is not your typical museum, it is a portal to a future world created by forward-thinking designers and artists. Each floor has a futuristic setup that you may inhabit, explore, and interact with.

The nation is home to Burj Khalifa, Palm Jumeirah Island, desert safaris and now a futuristic museum. A break away from the traditional museum, the Museum of the Future houses artifacts, things of aesthetic, cultural, historical, or scientific significance. Its exhibits and displays are completely futuristic, set up as the year 2071.

Its outside and interior are decorated in Arabic calligraphy quotes. A variety of exhibits are available in the museum. Visitors can travel in a space pod on a journey to the future Dubai and the OSS Hope, the Arab world’s first mission station to another planet. A digital simulation of the Amazon jungle is also on show, as is a ‘tomorrow today museum’ displaying futuristic technology. “Future Heroes” is a whole level dedicated to children learning and growing.

As per its website, “The Museum of the Future welcomes people of all ages to see, touch, and shape our shared future. Go on a journey through possible futures and bring hope and knowledge back to the present”. Its shape is explained as, “The circular building represents humanity; the green mound it sits atop represents the earth; the void represents the unknown future.”
