DAY OF EVENT NOTICE

- All pre-sale Show and Shine tickets wrap up at 12.00am midnight, but you can still purchase a Show and Shine ticket at the gate!

- Drag tickets are just about at capacity, and we expect we'll be full to the limit we set by mid-morning.

Regardless, there's still tonnes of space, and the spectator area is huge at worst - so bring yourself, your mates, or your family down to check out this incredible day! Absolutely stoked with the support so far. So thank you all.

Let's SMASH this fundraising record!

FOR ALL EXTRA INFORMATION

For the Map, Schedule, FAQs, Notifications, please check the Facebook Event Page! Here's the link, https://www.facebook.com/events/752329127001397/?active_tab=discussion

Or search "Rotationals X Repco: I Am Hope Drag Festival 2024" on FB and you'll find it. FYI, the most up-to-date notices go out through our Instagram on @Rotationals!

Spectator information:

To help with fundraising, spectator entry is just $10 at the gate.

That means, if a Show and Shine/Drag Entrant has passengers, each passenger will need to donate the $10 for their gate entry. Ensuring that everybody who attends will have helped this fundraising mission!

Children 10 and under get in for free.

There is no limit on spectator entry numbers. And sorry, just grabbing gate entrance doesn't get you a sticker or raffle entry. Come and buy them near the timing tower!

- For Hardpark / Bowden's Show and Shine details, read just below.

- For Drag Racing details (which also includes a Show and Shine spot), please make sure to scroll further down and read there.

***BOWDEN'S OWN SHOW AND SHINE / HARDPARK***

This is the main “meet” aspect of this event, and is open to any car, any age, and any stage of build. Think of it as the main hardpark, with a bonus Show and Shine on top.

This is where you will want to park if you want your car to be seen, photographed, and to take part in the day properly!

By grabbing your ticket, you are donating $10 to the I Am Hope charity, plus you get,

+ The Rotationals X Repco 2024 event sticker (say your ticket name at the sticker stall to collect)

+ A bonus entry in the $2500 fundraising raffle

+ You guarantee your parking spot inside of the event, and become elligible for Bowden's Own Show and Shine top car voting and prizes.

+ Gate entry for yourself is covered by this ticket

Thanks to the support of Bowden’s Own car care, we have $1000 worth of prizes for the top cars in this park - which will naturally go towards the more ‘show ready’ cars. Instead of a boring award ceremony, each prize will be determined by online community voting on our Instagram and FB story during the week afterwards - for multiple different categories.

Any car in here has the chance to win Bowden's Own prizes. But regardless of whether your car is trying for a prize or not, this is how everybody will be parking!

Grab your tickets now to secure spots for you and your mates while space is available - just $20. Prices may rise when we get closer to the event date! The earlier we know numbers, the better.

More details will come with your ticket on where to park, and other FAQs.

If you have any burning questions, feel free to email us on [email protected] :)

***FOR-FUN DRAG RACING (make sure to read the rules further below!)***

As well as letting the quick cars exercise what they've got, we want this event to be a chance for people who have never tried drag racing to have a go.

With no judgement, and no expectations of being fast - just a wholesome day celebrating our cars.

You have the opportunity to thrash your car for a whole quarter mile, and see what your ride can really do. Whether your car ran a 17 or a 12 second quarter when it came out, can you still match that yourself?

Throughout the day, you’ll be able to improve on your times, refine your technique, and fully experience this iconic motorsport first hand.

And if you’ve been down the strip before, feel free to show people how it’s done!

We’re making sure that this won’t be a crowded track, so you’ll get lots of seat time. People will love seeing the high powered cars launch down the line.

With your Drag Racing entry, you’ll get,

+ Access to the quarter mile for the whole day, with grudge racing, and DYO competition (with a Star Insurance $200 petrol 1st prize)

+ Automatic entry into the Bowden’s Own Show and Shine, with prizes up for grabs

+ Gate entry for yourself

+ One event sticker, with a $10 donation to I Am Hope (say your ticket name at the sticker stall to collect)

+ One bonus $2500 raffle entry

Which mates are you lining up against?

What's on for Drag Racers?

We will be doing Grudge Racing in the morning, so you can line up against your mates and get the hang of your car, and times. (Passenger rides allowed for Grudge Racing if signed in with wristband + helmet)

Then we will have a lunch break, before getting into the friendly DYO/Dial Your Own competition, with $200 of Fuel vouchers up for grabs thanks to Star Insurance. (No passengers allowed for DYO)

And back to Grudge Racing after that to race your mates for the rest of the day. (Passenger rides allowed for Grudge Racing if signed in with wristband + helmet)

Read further to get to the detailed Drag Racing time schedule below.

What is DYO/Dial Your Own?

It's very simple - it's essentially just a headstart/handicap setup to give different levels of car a down-to-the-wire finish.

- Take a time slightly faster than what you can run, and make that your "DYO time".
- Say you've been running 14.20s at best, tell officials that your DYO time is 14.0 seconds. When you line up next to a 12 second car, saying their DYO is 12.0, you will get a 2 second head start over them, so you both finish neck and neck.

- This makes racing very even, regardless of the speed of the two cars lined up.
- If you run FASTER than your DYO time, you automatically lose. So the trick is to set a time slightly faster than the max potential of your car.

In this very fun competition, the winner of each round will go through to the next race. Knockout will continue, until there are just two racers left. The winner of this round will win a $200 fuel voucher thanks to the legends at Star Insurance!
Once this is finished, we will get back to classic Grudge Racing.

***SEE IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR DRAG RACING BELOW***

Note For Seasoned Drag Racers: Because this isn't an event for "pro" racers, the track won't be VHT prepped. However, we are running Compulink.

If you know your car (or bike!) runs faster than 11.0s, please flick us a quick email with your name, mobile, and brief car details on [email protected] - just so we can keep track of how many fast people we have!

Drag Racing Rules + Terms and Conditions (please read!)

We will be very careful that we abide by our venue’s rules when it comes to racing. So here are the rules for the day.

- As with typical IHRA venue events, all drivers must pay and sign their IHRA insurance levy at the timing tower on the day. We have absorbed $5 of this already, making it just $20. If you are an IHRA member, you don't need to pay.

- All drivers must have a minimum of a restricted license, and it must be current and valid.

- All drivers must attend a Drivers' Briefing before racing. This will happen at the scrutineering shed from 9:15am.

- All drivers must wear a helmet and closed-in shoes. As for competition vehicles, please refer to the official IHRA rule book.

- All cars must have a current WOF and Rego to race, unless it has an IHRA/MSNZ log book and licenses.

- Any vehicle that runs faster than 11.0 seconds must have an IHRA/NZDRA tech. A current MSNZ logbook and license also works, as long as the vehicle doesn’t exceed 10.0 seconds.

- Any driver that runs quicker than 11.0 seconds down the quarter mile must have an IHRA or NZDRA drag racing license.

Scrutineering & Racing Terms (read!)

- Scrutineering takes place from 8:30am - 12pm on Sunday. Make sure your car is up to scratch - they are not allowed to be lenient!

- Your vehicle must pass the scrutineering check to race. This means; make sure your battery is properly secured, radiator overflow secured with fluid inside, seatbelt works, seat is secure, steering wheel is secure, your brake pedal doesn't hit the floor, and that your tyres have sufficient tread. You must have the tyres you will use on your car already fitted.

- Your vehicle must have a current WOF and Rego, or a current IHRA Tech Inspection Cert to race.

- You must produce your helmet during scrutineering. No motocross helmets with peaks allowed. Long shirt and pants are recommended but not required.

- No slicks, unless it's a tech inspected drag vehicle. Semi-slicks are allowed as long as they're DOT approved.

- Rotary scatter shields are no longer required for cars 11.0 seconds or slower.

- Any convertibles must have a proper roll bar!

Passengers and Additional Drivers

Passengers -

- Must sign the waiver in the admin tower, pay $10, and get a wristband.

- Same clothing regulations as a driver.

- Helmet is required, same regs as driver.

- Passengers allowed during Grudge Racing sessions only. No passengers during DYO.

Secondary Drivers - your mate think they can drive your car faster? They reckon??

- Same price as normal driver ticket - go to scrutineering shed to become a secondary driver!

- Same requirements as primary driver - see Drag Racing Rules above

- Same clothing regulations as a driver.

- Must be Drivers Briefed before racing (scrutineering staff can help with this).

Refunds

Because of the VERY tight nature of this event, we need to run a no refund policy for both racing and Show and Shine. But if something comes up, we will gladly transfer your ticket over to a person of your choice. If not transferred, your entry will be used as an additional donation. The 2 of us running this event have enough to deal with as it is, but our email is [email protected] if there are extremely special circumstances. Thank you.

If it rains, the event date will be pushed back to the next available date, and we will race then.

***FREE REV COMPETITION INFORMATION***

Our rev competition is open to any and all Show and Shine or Drag Racing ticket holders as long as they register for it.

You can apply/register for this for free right here. We can only take about 30 entrants.
Just enter your details as well as your ticket "Order number" and we'll have you on our list. (Order number in your email confirmation).

It's a simple competition, but it requires rules to be run happily - so read the below.

At 12.00pm - only registered Rev Competition entrants will head over to the burnout pad, and line up ready for the Rev Comp to get underway.

Cars will be briefed on the rules required as they approach, but it boils down to;

- Don't begin until the official has given you the all-clear. If you rev while in the line, you will be disqualified.
- Line up on the pad, where the car ahead of you was previously.
- Put your handbrake on, and take your car out of gear.
- Make sure your wheels are facing forward.
- Under NO circumstances can you skid. We aren't set up for that.
- When the official gives you the all clear, you have up to 10 seconds to rev the hell out of your car. Dose, pop, limi-bash, whatever. As long as it stays completely stationary.

We will measure the volume of the loudest ones, as well as considering the crowd reaction, to see whether the cars get through to the next round or not.

After a few passes, we will be down to the top cars. We will then video these runs, and put them on our story later in the week for voting to commence.

We're hoping to confirm a sponsor for this section soon, but at the moment, the only prize is winning our Instagram competition hahaha.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

General FAQ

Can my car enter the Show and Shine?

Any car can technically enter the Show and Shine. If you're wondering about your classic European or American car, then yes, absolutely, we love to see stuff like that!

We don't want to make things exclusive, but we ask that people with more modern cars use common sense. Ask yourself "Will car enthusiasts find this interesting, in any way?", because they might!

But naturally, if it's stock, under 20 years old, slow, rough, and a car that you see everywhere already, then you might be better to park in the spectator parking to save someone else a spot.

But if it's a rare model, derived from a race car, tidily done up, fast, funny/ironic, or something similar, then people should find it interesting. Then you know, yes, come and be a part of the Show and Shine!

We are working with limited parking space here at the end of the day, so we'd prefer to save some space for the craziest cars!

How much is spectator entry?

If you have a Show and Shine ticket, or a Drag ticket, your own entry is included with that. If you're coming along to see the cars (or as passenger), the spectator entry is just a $10 donation at the gate to help with fundraising!

Ages 10 and under are free.

Can motorbikes race?

Yes! 11.0 second bikes and under, all you need is a WOF/reg, and to undergo scrutineering/briefing. Faster than 11.0 requires IHRA tech, same as any drag day. Decent safety gear of course is required, and Go-Pros aren't permitted to be attached to helmets while riding. You can race with cars during Grudge, but not the DYO.

Are dogs or animals allowed at the venue?

Sorry, as this is a motorsport venue, no dogs or animals are allowed.

Can I use a drone?

All drone operators need to have signed in with a media pass first at the office/tower, as using a drone comes with a few strict rules in relation to where you can and can't fly it. They'll provide your armband.

Is there mobility parking/access?

Yes! There is mobilty parking, it's to the right hand side as you enter the main gate :) Also shown on the event map.

Is smoking allowed at the venue?

Since it's an outdoor venue, cigarettes are chill (NOT near the pits), as long as you're considerate about it.

Can I bring my RC drift cars?

Go hard! As long as you're not driving near the pits or the staging area, and aren't causing a tripping hazard, you're good to go.

What if it rains?

IF it's looking severely rainy, we will play it by ear as to whether or not the track is suitable to race on. If not, the event will be postponed to the next available date.
