TF Daily Feed: Jamal Edwards, British Music Mogul and YouTube Star Dies at 31

Jamal Edwards, The Founder of SBTV, has sadly passed away. He drew his last breath on 20 February at the age of 31, his manager confirmed.

During his short lifespan, Edwards made a huge name for himself. He earned a wide range of accomplishments as an entrepreneur, DJ, and director. Born in Luton, England, as a teenager he built SBTV – an online media platform focused on discovering new and upcoming artists. His company is credited with launching the careers of the music industry’s top artists. It includes Ed Sheeran, Rita Ora, Skepta, Jessie J, Dave, Stormzy, Tori Kelly, and many more. SBTV currently has over a million subscribers. According to the BBC, details about his passing on Sunday morning have still not been released.

At the age of twenty-four in 2014, he was awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for his work in the music industry. He was also an ambassador for the Prince’s Trust, a charity governed by the Prince of Wales set up to get young people’s lives on track and help them embrace new opportunities.

Tributes poured in since the day of his passing from artists across the globe. Comedian Munya Chawawa, Hip Hop artist Hardy Caprio, Sajid Khan – the Mayor of London and Chelsea Football Club, to name a few. Edwards was a lifelong supporter of the Chelsea Football Club and has linked up with them on multiple occasions.
