After dropping a sonic expedition bragging oodles of wobbly bass and tantalizing guitar riffs from Warren Mendonsa, Hashbass concocts a euphonic world of 80s sounds on his new EP ‘Solo At Your Party.’
Bassist and producer Harshit Misra, best known as Hashbass, tracks back to a world of 80s sounds on his latest EP, ‘Solo At Your Party.’ This latest release from the New Delhi-born and Mumbai-based artist is a blend of both familiar and contemporary tunes. Written within two days, its retro wave sounds evoke a sense of nostalgia and provide listeners with a glimpse into Hashbass’ musical creativity.

In ‘Solo At Your Party,’ the years of video game arcades, roller blades, and neon lights are thoroughly explored through a 2023 lens. ‘I Need U 2 Listn’ opens the EP and unloads fragments of electronica, funk, and wavey arcade game-inspired melodies. It is followed by ‘Airplane Mode,‘ a nearly five-minute production that springs to life with its funky upbeat tempo and disco energy. ‘Nxo Worries’ unfurls a melange of melodic synth plunges, rhythmic percussion, and delicate keyboard jabs. The final track on the EP is ‘Everybody,’ which was also the first one written by Hashbass, oozing a pulsating rhythm and dance-inducing vibe.
Commenting on the single, the artist mentions, “I can never forget the feeling of writing the groove for ‘Everybody’. It was SPECIAL. There’s something about the neon energy that attracts me like crazy… mixed with the carefree and absolute risk-taking attitude the 80’s music had.”
With a bit of ingenuity, Hashbass found the vocal samples used on the EP online. Speaking about the EP, Hashbass expressed, “The concept of the EP in my mind was clear – music that gives a good nostalgic vibe yet reminds you of a very today space.”
The bassist adds, “Also the songs do give out all the emotions from aggressive to dreamy yet groovy. I have always wanted to play the music that bangs in a room where I can happily sway alone in a corner and since I don’t know how to ‘party’, hence came the name Solo At Your Party.”
‘Solo At Your Party’ is now available on all streaming platforms.
