Music festival curators Red Rum Touring, renowned for bringing some of the best electronic musicians on tour, are back with another enticing edition of Spring Classic. Locked in for October 21 on Labor weekend, this year’s showcase radiates from Ascension Wine Estate Function Centre & Winery in Matakana, New Zealand. Tickets to Spring Classic 2023 are brought to you by The Ticket Fairy.
Red Rum Touring invites you to the Spring Classic 2023 music festival with a medley of international and local acts charging in with hauls of bass, garage, grime, DnB, and house music. Artists traveling to Aotearoa as part of the roster include Sammy Virji, Zero, Jaded, Cody Currie, and Athlete Whippet. Acts Pirapus, Bavhu, Carlotta, Caru, Micca, Tizza, Jess Magoo, Mrs. K, and Hyfinn & Yüthe round out the card for the spectacle.
The UK’s Sammy Virji, a connoisseur of garage, bassline, house and grime, darts to Spring Classic as part of his forthcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand. This marks Virji’s second stint on a tour of AUNZ, following a run of performances in late 2022 and early 2023. Talking about the tour, Sammy expressed on Instagram, “So gassed to return down under, the last tour had some of the best shows I’ve ever had the pleasure of doing!”
UK-based DJ and producer team Jaded springboards to Spring Classic Festival after a visit to Melbourne, Australia, before heading onto Queenstown and Wellington. Musician Robin Paul Braum, best known as Athlete Whippet, comes armed with his new release ‘Release Me,’ a velvety house mix featuring vocalist Allysha Joy. He is also slated to release his EP on the independent music label Toy Tonics come November 2023.
We reached out to DJ and vocalist Tizza, who offered us some insight into her performance at Spring Classic, showed love for Red Rum Touring, and name-dropped the artist she is looking forward to seeing perform. She expressed, “I am fortunate enough to say this is my second year performing at Spring Classic, and it’s quickly becoming a highlight of the year for me. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the beginning of warmer months. To work with Red Rum and be amongst some of their lineups, is proving to be such a privilege. They are elite in selecting a wide range of new and seasoned artists. For example, this year I am gunning to see Zero, hailing from the UK, and an absolute master of all things bassline and Garage.”
Tizza added, “As for myself, the backbone of my sets is always based around vibrant bass house, but you can catch me playing anything among the bpm spectrum. Along with some originals and live vocals, I’m pumped to bring this set to the gorgeous Ascension Vineyard in Matakana.”
Spring Classic Festival kicks off on Saturday, 21 October, from 3 PM onwards. Bus services are available to get you to and from the festival site from Auckland, Mangawhai Town Centre, Omaha Surf Club, Warkworth iSite, Snells Beach, and Leigh.
