Mumbai-based musician David Britto, thriving under his collaborative music alias Arrows, continues his songwriting journey as he releases his second EP ‘Wilderness,’ pivoting the storytelling from friends to family.
A year on from dropping his debut EP ‘Friends Tonight, Strangers Again,’ Arrows brews yet another captivating ensemble of songs crafted with routine fixtures Siddharth Basrur, Jason D’Souza, and Vernon Noronha. This four-track record also marks singer-songwriter Vernon Noronha’s first crack at production and reunites Arrows with graphic designer Carina Miranda, who took charge of the artwork of the songwriters’ 2021 single ‘Buried To Dust.’
Talking about the EP, David Britto shared via a press release, “I wanted to create a collection of songs dedicated to my family, each one wrapped in an acoustic soundscape that mirrors the deep emotions I feel. The artwork, too, captures the essence of this EP.”
An acoustic-ridden presentation, ‘Wilderness’ serves as a tribute to his family. Each member in the artwork is shrouded by foliage and a Samoan flycatcher – a bird known to establish small family units, feed off nectar and dwell in dense forests.

’38,’ a breezy instrumental composition, sits atop the EP; the title alludes to the area code of David’s residence and it also clocks in at 38 seconds. Earlier release ‘The Light‘ ensues next, followed by the title track ‘Wilderness,’ which is graced by Vernon’s mellow vocal textures, strummy guitars, and soothing key undertones. This tune celebrates the life of David’s late grandmother and commences with the birds chirping excitedly and concludes with the gentle sounds of chimes.
Concluding the EP is ‘Say To You,’ a single weaved to display gratitude toward his parents. Audibly inspired by The Beatles and Creedence Clearwater Revival, this arrangement links acoustic guitar chords with steady percussive arrangments and a vibrant harmonica segment meshing together a classic rock melody.
Talking about the artwork that is sewn together from multiple old and new family photographs, Carina Miranda told us, “I wanted to find a way to make them look cohesive and not just a bunch of images thrown together. In the end, I guess it was the music that influenced the artwork in a way because I had the tracks playing on a loop. There are many aspects of nature in the music, which I brought into the artwork and I wanted these elements to interact with the images.”
