Welcome to a dance meditation to the sounds of Ж in an intimate circle of unquiet beings.

Enter the ocean room with intentions in our hands and movement on our minds, arriving to bathe your skins in etheric and unusual music.

Composed by the mind of Ж, a composer of ice music, Voca Shaden and stranget-tundra — an experimental musician from San Francisco, come to listen to their original and serrulate compositions performed live with two other artists. Surrounded by the dripping sounds of melting ice and Serrulate Sonance, dance shoeless in the cool room of ice sounds and upbeat frozen water ambience.

Dresscode: icy, frozen, extraterrestrialism

Isaac Pond
Isaac Pond is a percussionist and musical instrument designer from Woodstock, New York. Known for seeing the musical potential in everyday materials, he constructs distinctive percussion tools from recycled and found objects—including papier-mâché shakers, sistrum rattles, electric analog noise boxes known as “Sprangalang,” and a patented mason jar water drum called the “Pondrum.” Rooted in psychedelic rock and heavy funk, Isaac Pond draws inspiration from sonic trailblazers like Primus, Frank Zappa, Mr. Bungle, Moondog, Parliament Funkadelic, and The Butthole Surfers. His musical journey has always gravitated toward the fringes, where experimentation and eccentricity flourish. From the early 2000s through 2017, he performed with groups such as Straight Jacket Love Machine and Kingkongzilla, and worked as a studio drummer at the iconic Hyde Street Studios. In more recent years, Isaac Pond has embraced electronic music, performing live with DJs and producers while composing original tracks in Ableton Live. Currently, he is a member of the downtempo trip-hop ensemble Third Icon and collaborates with house music DJs across San Francisco, often incorporating custom-built instruments into sets. Influences in the electronic realm include Shpongle, Aphex Twin, Prodigy, Portishead, Tabla Beat Science, and Beats Antique. Deeply inspired by global percussion traditions, the raw textures of nature, and the pulse of mechanical soundscapes, Isaac Pond continues to blur the lines between organic rhythm and electronic experimentation.

Carter Brooks
Carter Brooks is an artist and philosopher of climate art whose work examines how humanity and civilization will evolve in our rapidly changing world. Bearing witness is central to his installations of melting ice, which Brooks thinks of in both spiritual and practical terms. His work has been exhibited at large-scale festivals, and in smaller scales at restaurants, art gatherings, and other happenings. The play Time Sensitive, on which he collaborated with Amy Sass and the Ragged Wing Ensemble, incorporated his melting ice into the plot as much as into the stage set. With so many people wrestling with the challenges of climate change, Brooks is focused on a question of how we keep curiosity alive. How, he asks, do we retain some sense of comfort amid uncertainty, wrap our brains around the incomprehensible, and sow long-term seeds whose fruits we will, ourselves, never live to see?

w h a t t o e x p e c t . . . .

An ecstatic dance is a dance-trance meditation experience. Originating on the sands of Hawaii, participants move their bodies as if there are no eyes on them, as if they are alone in a room. We recommend dressing for activity. Wear clothing you can move in comfortably.

Items we recommend bringing:

-waterbottle

-socks or foot undies to dance in

-earplugs for noise

-blindfold -- if desired (Some ecstatic dancers wear blindfolds. They are optional to be used while dancing and create a very inward experience.)
