Integrating Internal Family Systems Into Your Practice
We are all made up of a multiplicity of parts. For example, therapists have all said things like: "a part of me really wants to see this client this afternoon, another part of me dreads it and feels helpless to really make a difference and another part would like to just go to lunch." If we really listen to our clients, they speak in parts language as well: " A part of me would like to die, another part of me would never do this, etc. So how do we reconcile all these parts within ourselves and within our clients?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) also known as Parts Work is an evidence-based psychotherapy model developed by Richard Schwartz, Ph.D. IFS can easily be integrated into any practice. It is a non-pathologizing model in which all parts of client's system are welcomed and in which deep and true healing and transformation can occur.
Goal of the IFS overview:Participants will demonstrate a basic understanding of the overall IFS model and its main tenants through instructional overview of the model, demonstrations, and experiential practice.
