The Grand Opening of Generation: Beat! Celebrating, Celebrating The Art & Literary Genius of Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Art Exhibition. A "Beat Era Happening" will be produced by Obtainium Works. Live music in the Temple Art Lofts Gallery features the Adam Briere Trio. Art Galleries, shops and restaurants will be available to patrons wanting an expanded art and music experience. The Temple Art Lofts Gallery will feature and extensive collection of Ferlinghetti paintings. Informational videos will be available in the gallery about the artist and his work. The Ferlinghetti Art Collection is provided courtesy of the Rena Branson Gallery and the LF trust.
Jerry Cimino will be bringing the historic Beat Museum mobile unit, he provide information and talks in the Empress Lounge.
The Grand Opening concert on the Empress main stage, features world-class jazz trumpeter, Jeff Bordes. A trumpeter known the world over, has performed and recorded with esteemed artists such as Jon Faddis, Branford Marsalis, Alex Acuna, Giovanni Hidalgo, Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez, Richie Cole, David Garibaldi, Tom Petty, Steve Earle, Stevie Nicks, Sheryl Crow, Karl Denson, Sugarhill Gang, Dana Carvey and most recently, John Mellencamp.
Joining Jeff will be Ken Cefalo on Guitar, Steve Carter on Piano, Hunter Van Dam on Bass, Danny Sandoval, Saxophone, Darius Minaee on Drums, Meredith McHenry, vocalist.
Bordes said “I’ve been fortunate to play with a lot of amazing musicians throughout the years. The idea with these shows is, every time I do one of them I chose a different theme and I try to change it up quite a bit year after year, and then I bring in different musicians and I try to change that up year after year.”
