Ghost Media and In Session are proud to present two stonewall heavyweights of the modern UK garage sound: KILLJOY & PEAKY BEATS
Two crews, two headliners, two stacks, one venue. Let's go!
With the UKG renaissance in full swing, we can't think of a better pair of ambassadors to bring the sound to the capital.
Sporting releases on some of the genre's most renowned labels, as well as regular support from the world's top DJs, these two have enough dubs between them to sink a spaceship. For the tapped in, they require no introduction, while for the unfamiliar they offer a perfect starting point for the genre.
First up, we have PEAKY BEATS, a multi-genre musical artist/record label based out of Leeds. With releases on labels such as Shall Not Fade, Lobster Theremin and Tru Thoughts, his unique blend of garage and breakbeat is a familiar sound on dancefloors across the globe, with his tracks recieving support from DJs including Disclosure, Greentea Peng and Floating Points. He will be hitting Aotearoa as part of his first ever world tour, spanning countries in Asia, Europe and Australasia, performing an extra special hardware set for the occasion. Expect cuts ranging from 2-step and garage through to techno and breakbeat, created with a deft touch of magic and a little bit of feline support.
He will be followed by Nottingham's very own KILLJOY. Now Sydney-based, Killjoy needs no introduction to those tuned into the underground. A frequent innovator, with one hand in the present and one eye on the horizon, Killjoy channels the sonic landscape of his local rave culture into cutting edge sounds through a weighty production style, with ventures into bassline, bass house, garage, grime, 140 and breakbeat among others. Since 2012 he has forged his way through innovation, working alongside legends such as D Double E, Jammz, Killa P and Beenie Man, as well as releasing on labels including Time Is Now, Extra Spicy and Slimzos Recordings, where his 140 roller 'Hellcat' has been doing bits globally.
As UK rave music continues to find its feet in Aotearoa's musical landscape, we're honoured to host some absolutely top class artists, and truly we can't think of a better set of representatives for the UK bass sound than these two right here.
They will be backed up by some of the regular shining lights of Pōneke's local scene, with support from YOUNG GHO$T, NOYER b2b UNWELL, SWIMCAP and WAX KINK (playing an all vinyl set to close out proceedings), as well as auxiliary bassweight supplied by FURTHER SOUND.
Visuals will be provided by VJ LIGHTSMITH.
A few $15 early birds are available with general sales from $20. Capacity is strictly limited.
Get your ticket now and secure your spot for this bumper double header, the likes of which is rarely seen in Aotearoa.
