Open Day 2026

Summer is on its way, and we’re getting ready with our pre-season Open Day on Saturday 21st November 2026 at the Whairepo Lagoon, Wellington Waterfront.

This community event offers anyone aged 16 and over the chance to experience dragon boating first-hand. With multiple boats on the water and a full safety crew in place, participants will have the chance to get out on the harbour, learn the basics of paddling, and experience the unique team spirit of the sport.

Whether you’re a seasoned paddler preparing for the season ahead or a complete beginner curious to try something new, the Open Day is the perfect opportunity.

Bring friends, family, or colleagues, wear clothing you don’t mind getting wet, and discover the excitement of dragon boating.

Cost $10 per person + Booking Fees. Tickets must be pre-purchased. Choose a 30-minute time slot to lock in some fun! 
Thinking of signing up as a Single Paddler? No problem! If you register as a single paddler, your $10 Open Day fee will be deducted from your Festival entry.
