Saturn is one of Birmingham’s busiest small concert venues, presenting touring artists, Alabama bands, dance parties, comedy, storytelling, screenings and community events. Rock and indie remain central, but the calendar regularly reaches into punk, metal, folk, country, bluegrass, hip-hop, electronic music, jam bands and singer-songwriter shows. Community concert records indicate 77 shows in 2021, followed by roughly 159 to 178 entries annually from 2022 through 2025, although fan-maintained archives may contain duplicate listings.

The schedule researched on August 23, 2026, continued through December with punk, experimental metal, indie rock, Americana, country, bluegrass, comedy, dance parties, orchestral music, storytelling and children’s programming. Announced artists included Circle Jerks, Mdou Moctar, The New Pornographers, Black Country, New Road, Sunn O))), PUP, Fruit Bats, Robyn Hitchcock, The Lemon Twigs and American Aquarium. No 2027 event was displayed at that time.

Most standard concert tickets fall around $15 to $40 before fees. Free community programs and approximately $5 dance events appear alongside higher-priced concerts, while limited premium packages can rise to roughly $70 to $100. Themed dance parties commonly cost about $10 to $25. Prices, age limits and door times vary by event, so the live listing should be treated as the final authority.

Tickets and Booking

Advance tickets are sold through Saturn’s official event listings, while the box office opens on evenings when the venue is hosting an event. Door sales depend on remaining capacity; for an in-demand artist, buying ahead is safer than arriving without a ticket. The venue opened on May 1, 2015, in former commercial buildings associated with Cory & Faulkner Hardware and later occupied by a grocery business and arcade-repair operation. Founder Brian Teasley brought experience from Birmingham’s influential Bottletree era. The lighting system uses a Road Hog 4 controller with moving spots, washes, LED battens, strobes and a water-based hazer.

The lot provides about 160 spaces and operates around the clock.

Rates introduced in July 2026 charge $3 for the first hour, $1 for each additional hour and a $10 daily maximum at the public Avondale lot. Do not assume that an empty restaurant, apartment or business lot allows concert parking; towing rules are controlled by each property. Remove valuables from view and choose a well-lit route back to your vehicle.

Fixed-route buses 17 and 25 serve stops around Third Avenue South and 41st Street South. Service is limited compared with larger cities, operates Monday through Saturday and may end before a late concert finishes; there is no regular Sunday service. Check real-time timing before relying on the bus. Rideshare is often the simplest late-night option, with pickup arranged on a nearby side street where the vehicle can stop legally without blocking 41st Street.

Inside the Venue

Saturn is cashless, accepting major cards and mobile-wallet payments. Small bags and purses are allowed, but backpacks and suitcases are prohibited, and security may inspect any bag. There is no conventional hotel immediately beside Saturn. Downtown Birmingham hotels are generally about two miles away and are better reached by car or rideshare than on foot after dark.
