New Music Releases from Ritviz, Akhil Garg, Tejas and More

We take a look at a tabla-infused electronica piece from Ritivz, Akhil Garg’s wistful piano-led score, and Sumira’s remodeled neo-soul release, amongst others!

Ritviz – ‘DHA’

Electronic musician and record producer Ritviz, famed for his soothing twist of hip-hop, electronica, and classical music, unveiled the first single from his upcoming album ‘Kurta Saree.’ Set to release in 2026, the record is described as “a playful exploration of duality: tradition meeting today, music meeting fashion, and sound meeting spectacle.”

The first page of this record, ‘DHA,’ dishes out Ritviz’s signature classical-inspired electronica, layered with tabla rhythms, folk-tinged textures, bass thumps, and desi flourishes all woven in to craft a lilting, feel-good bop.

Via a press note, the artist shared, “’DHA’ is a song that’s been in my head for years. It all started with this one sound, the Dha from the tabla. It’s the next sound I would hear in the mornings after my mom’s singing, my dad playing the tabla! I wanted to take that simple, joyful sound and make it the heartbeat of an electronic song.”

Akhil Garg – ‘Waltz of a one legged man’

Meerut-born and Delhi-based pianist, composer, and music educator Akhil Garg, who thrives in the neo-classical, instrumental music realm, has unveiled the elegantly composed second track from his upcoming album, ‘Songs That I Play For My Friends.’

Framed back in 2019, the tune relies solely on a crisscross of graceful and uplifting piano melodies to concoct a blissful composition. Known for his piano and string-heavy pieces, ‘Waltz of a one legged man’ keeps the focus on the keys and steers away from any string elements as heard on his earlier release ‘Wind.’

Via email exchange, Akhil expressed, “This track digs deeper into the human nature of normalizing almost anything life throws at us and being hopeful in the worst of the circumstances. Being a solo piano piece, it takes the listener on a highly individual journey which only they can experience and relate to in a unique manner.”

Five YearsFromNow – ‘Alvida’

Rising EDM fusion group known for bangers like ‘Lost In You‘ (ft Nero?), the Carnatic dubstep flavored mix ‘The World Will Know,’ and immensely well-received debut single ‘Khwahish ke Boondein,’ unwrap their third single of 2025 in ‘Alvida,’ meaning “goodbye.”

‘Alvida’ leans into atmospheric textures drawn from wistful piano lines, chime-like tones, and breathy vocals, sketching out a tranquil, somber soundscape. According to the trio, Alvida “is a song that asks if it really is that easy to say goodbye. Going back again, holding onto the memories that once were, and letting them leave. The song explores different alleyways of the mind while letting go.”

Aanchal Bordoloi – ‘Brazilian Girl’

Fresh off her bluesy soul number ‘Little Child‘ (featuring Siddarth Nayanar), singer Aanchal Bordoloi channels her passion for bossa nova into a new single called ‘Brazilian Girl.’ The single draws inspiration from the 1964 classic Getz/Gilberto from saxophonist Stan Getz, Brazilian guitarist João Gilberto, and pianist-composer Antônio Carlos Jobim, as well as Aanchal’s passion for this genre.

Aanchal wrote the chorus during her spell as a corporate employee, shaping the composition with brushed percussion, airy guitar strokes, and her trademark powerful vocal delivery. In an email exchange, Ananchal expressed, “This song is basically a mix – that of escape and longing, a love for Bossa Nova and a desire to live through somebody else.”

Space Salt – ‘Ctrl Alt Feelings’ EP

California-based Hindi-pop duo Space Salt launched their second EP, ‘Ctrl Alt Feelings,’ a six-track collection that includes previously released singles ‘Bahana,’ ‘Ud Chala!‘ ‘Khwabon’ and ‘KHAFA.’ Described as a “time capsule of raw emotions, quiet reflections, and hope,” the EP explores deeply relatable themes of love, intoxication, depression, passion, betrayal, and loss. It is sonically etched out to serve as “a soft emotional reboot,” akin to hitting the Ctrl + Alt button when a PC system freezes.

New on the EP is ‘MEHERBAN,’ which delivers a poignant ballad laced with themes of gratitude and grief, while the closing track ‘MÜSKURA’ dives more into a polished pop-esque sound with danceable textures and a blend of synth-pop and new wave energy.

KIMKID – ‘Hey Miss’

Singer-songwriter Arjun Mukherjee, who operates as KIMKID, looks back to his schooling years to revive his earliest composition in ‘Hey Miss.’ On this single, he taps in regular collaborator DeepC and Lokesh Mangar on bass duties to carve out a breezy indie pop tune plugged with a tantalizing slice of blues guitar.

With easygoing lyrics and light snare action, the song captures a student who is quietly charmed by a series of teachers. Each leaves a distinct impression ranging from a soft-spoken “guiding soul,” a “rock and roll” music teacher, and the icy glare of a strict disciplinarian.

According to KIMKID, “The song captures fleeting moments of connection, weaving simplicity into something achingly resonant. With its gentle arrangement and lyrical honesty, it feels both deeply personal and universally relatable.”

Sumira – ‘How Could I’

Singer-songwriter and poet Sumira, whose sound sits at the crossroads of pop, experimental tones, and neo-soul motifs, has reintroduced her 2024 single ‘How Could I‘ as a live version. Workshopped during the First Listen Sessions at Delhi’s live venue Dept 48, the performance features Ajit Bhasin on guitar, Ajasra on bass, and Nishant Rastogi on drums.

Peeled away are the thumping percussion, orchestral strings, and lush synth movement, revealing a more rustic rendition, marked by sombre drums and tidy guitar picking. Sumira opens this poignant piece with a spoken word intro, before gracefully crooning each lyric with finesse.

Amogh Symphony – ‘K-47’

Two years after their hard-hitting five-track EP ‘Automorphed’ (2023), avant-prog metal pioneers Amogh Symphony, run by composer-guitarist Vishal J. Singh and songwriter-producer Andrey Sazonov, return with their explosive new single ‘K-47.’ Packed with chugging guitar riffs, crashing drums, haunting synth patches, symphonic metal shifts, and serene piano interludes, the track unfolds with unpredictable twists in structures and fierce progressive metal elements, assembling a stellar prog-metal score.

The story and concept of K-47: The God Algorithm is an interesting one, ending on a cliffhanger. Set in the year 2050, where humanity is controlled by a powerful AI called Dark Tower. Kalki-47 or K-47, a rogue human-AI hybrid created to serve it, rebels and goes rogue after uncovering certain hidden truths. As a war breaks out in both digital and physical realms, K-47 must choose to save humanity or become its oppressor. After Dark Tower falls, humanity evolves, but did K-47 save them or reshape their future?

Tejas – ‘What Comes After’

On his newest outing, indie staple Tejas presents “a haunting reflection on cycles of war, loss, and the unsettling silence of a world that must march on through it.” Titled ‘What Comes After,’ this new song dishes out a mellow vocal performance from Tejas, underscored by gentle acoustic guitar strums from composer/producer Neil Mukherjee. It delves into all that is lost when compassion is lost and also points towards the singer-songwriter’s second chapter of his EP, ‘Museum.’

‘What Comes After’ was released in a live rendition, recorded at Compass Box Studios in Ahmedabad as part of the studio’s Pardesi live sessions. This version is stitched with warm clarinet segments from Harmish Joshi and lush violins courtesy of Protyay Chakraborty, bringing a poignant feel to the melody.
