About The Williamsburg Hotel

The property opened in stages during 2017 as The Williamsburg Hotel, developed by Heritage Equity Partners. London design studio Michaelis Boyd shaped its industrial-luxury interiors, while HWKN was credited with the brick, glass and weathered-steel façade. The design referenced Williamsburg’s manufacturing past through red brick, exposed materials, reclaimed wood, brass, marble and Corten steel. Its rooftop Water Tower was conceived as a tribute to a former wooden water-tower factory on the block.

The original interiors included custom Brooklyn-themed wallpaper devised with Mike Diamond of the Beastie Boys and a suspended multicolored yarn installation by artist Eric Rieger. Financial problems later interrupted that first chapter. The owner defaulted on construction financing in 2019, entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy in February 2021 and came under a court-appointed trustee in 2022. Quadrum acquired the 147-room property through a bankruptcy auction for $96 million, with the sale closing in April 2023. The hotel relaunched as Arlo Williamsburg on September 12, 2023.
