About The Bottom Bar & Grill

The Bottom Bar & Grill is a family-owned bar, restaurant, and small live-entertainment venue at 426 County Road 4 West in Prattville, Alabama. It is best understood as a roadside honky-tonk rather than a formal concert hall: the room combines a working bar and kitchen with tables, a performance area, and the close-to-the-stage atmosphere of an independent club. Current listings confirm that it remains open and trading under The Bottom Bar & Grill or the shortened name The Bottom.

The property was previously Carl’s Country. In 2020 and 2021, Carl’s Country was operated by George Harvey Russell under a Class 1 lounge liquor license. A dispute over draft-beer sales reached the Alabama Supreme Court, which issued its decision on September 17, 2021. Court records describe the bar as being outside Prattville’s corporate limits at that time but within the city’s police jurisdiction.

The exact ownership-transfer and reopening date has not been publicly documented, but the business was operating as The Bottom by October 2023, when it hosted the Ying Yang Twins and a separate Halloween party. Later local reporting identified Lane and Asheley Minor as the owners. The Minors also operate other hospitality businesses in the River Region, and they have promoted The Bottom as a live-music venue and a space for catered special events.

No authoritative current capacity has been published. Unofficial venue directories conflict, with figures of 200 and 325, so neither should be treated as a confirmed fire-code maximum. The venue also has not released public dimensions, stage measurements, renovation records, architectural plans, or a detailed technical rider.

Events and Programming

The Bottom’s programming crosses country, Southern rock, alternative rock, post-grunge, acoustic music, karaoke, comedy, adult revues, community activities, and touring novelty entertainment. Its country and honky-tonk identity remains important, but recent bookings show that the venue is not restricted to one genre. Friday and Saturday nights are the principal live-music periods, while occasional weekday events broaden the schedule.

During the Carl’s Country era, documented bookings included Kingery in 2022 and Joshua Ray Walker and Silverada in 2023. By late 2023, The Bottom was attracting recognizable touring entertainment such as the Ying Yang Twins. Verified 2024 appearances included Trapt, Citizen Kane, Appalachian country artist Tim Goodin, and Alabama country performer Glen Templeton.

The 2025 record reflects the venue’s mix particularly well: Hank Williams IV represented traditional country, while Smile Empty Soul, Trapt, and Framing Hanley brought alternative rock and acoustic post-grunge. Alabama Big Earl and the high-energy Western-rock band The Comancheros also appeared. These bookings demonstrate a preference for acts that work well in a compact, informal bar room rather than productions requiring arena-scale infrastructure.

Documented 2026 programming has included repeat visits from Smile Empty Soul, hard-rock performances by ShallowSide and Clozure, Andrew Conn comedy, an interactive emo karaoke show, Framing the Red, and a touring male revue. Later-2026 announcements include Trapt with Sygnal to Noise, Little Mania wrestling, and Trackside with 3 Years Hollow. A weekly Pokémon trade-and-play night has also been reported, showing that The Bottom sometimes functions as a neighborhood gathering place as well as a music venue. No verified 2027 program was found during this research.

Tickets and Booking

Some local performances and community nights are free or handled at the door, while touring concerts, comedy, wrestling, and specialty revues use advance tickets. There is no single permanent price structure. One archived 2023 concert started at $30 for general admission, but that should not be treated as a current standard. Event-specific VIP, front-row, or early-entry packages are sometimes offered.

Buy only through the authorized seller identified in the event announcement. Door tickets may be available if advance sales do not reach capacity, but this is not guaranteed. Published touring-event policies commonly make sales final, with refunds limited to canceled performances; tickets are normally honored when an event is rescheduled. Popular touring shows are safest to purchase in advance.

Seating and Layout

The Bottom does not publish a permanent seating chart. Its normal restaurant setup includes tables and bar seating, but the floor can be adjusted for concerts and specialty productions. Depending on the event, admission may be standing-room general admission, informal table seating, or a combination of reserved front-row areas and general admission behind them.

For the most direct performer interaction, arrive early and choose a position near the center of the stage. Guests who want easier bar, restroom, or exit access may prefer the room’s outer edges, although foot traffic will be greater. Sightlines can vary when a large standing crowd forms, so shorter guests should avoid arriving just before showtime. Hearing protection is sensible for amplified rock performances in a compact room.

No verified information is available about balcony seating, permanent VIP booths, raked floors, sound-isolated areas, or obstructed-view locations. Guests buying a premium ticket should read its inclusions carefully because “VIP” may mean early entry or a meet-and-greet rather than a separate lounge.

Getting There and Parking

Use 426 County Road 4 West, Prattville, Alabama 36067 for navigation. Some older or automated listings incorrectly display “East,” while current venue, restaurant, and event records predominantly use “West.” The property is away from Prattville’s downtown entertainment blocks, making driving or rideshare the practical choice for most visitors.

A surface parking lot is associated with the venue. Older Carl’s Country records described lot parking as free, but no current universal parking price or overflow arrangement has been published. Touring-event notices state that the venue controls parking availability and conditions. Arrive early for major shows, park only in marked or permitted areas, and avoid assuming that neighboring private property is available.

Prattville does not have a fixed-route city bus serving the venue. Montgomery’s municipal buses operate within Montgomery, not to County Road 4. Autauga County provides a reservation-based rural transportation program for county residents, including reduced fares for qualifying riders, but it is not designed as spontaneous late-night concert transportation.

No formal rideshare zone is published. Arrange pickup near the main entrance without blocking the parking-lot drive, and consider scheduling the return trip before a late show ends. Cellular demand and driver availability may be less predictable than in central Montgomery.

Inside the Venue

Expect a casual, hometown bar rather than a polished theater lobby. The venue’s character is consistently described as no-frills, friendly, and welcoming. Recent visitor feedback frequently praises the staff, drinks, live performances, and relaxed atmosphere. Review summaries commonly place an ordinary food-and-drink visit in the approximately $10–$20-per-person range before concert admission.

The kitchen serves home-style bar-and-grill food. Publicly reported offerings include weekday meat-and-three lunches, wings, salads, beef tips, sandwiches, and other rotating comfort-food dishes. Food service has remained available during several concerts, making it possible to eat without leaving the venue. Menus, kitchen closing times, and specials can change by day or event.

Security procedures are event-dependent. Age and ticket checks may take place at the entrance, and touring productions can add their own photography or conduct rules. No permanent public bag-size policy, coat check, cashless requirement, or venue-wide photography policy has been issued. Merchandise is generally tied to the visiting performer rather than a permanent shop.

Nearby Amenities

The Bottom’s on-site kitchen is the most convenient pre-show dining option. Elsewhere in Prattville, visitors can find old-school barbecue at Chris’ Bar-B-Que, creekside barbecue at Fat Boy’s Bar-B-Que Ranch, and drinks around downtown at places such as Autauga Creek Craft House and Teddy’s Bourbon Bar. These are driving, not walkable, alternatives from the venue.

Most major hotels are concentrated around Interstate 65, particularly the Exit 179 and Exit 181 areas. That cluster offers the widest choice of chain lodging and late-arrival services, but guests should plan on driving or using rideshare between their hotel and The Bottom.

What Makes This Venue Special

The Bottom matters less for architectural grandeur than for continuity. It preserves the role of a locally operated honky-tonk at an address long associated with live country music, while expanding the calendar to include hard rock, acoustic touring acts, comedy, karaoke, drag and revue-style entertainment, wrestling, and community game nights.

That variety is significant in a regional scene where audiences sometimes describe independent live-music choices as limited. The Bottom gives local performers, working touring bands, and national acts a room between a neighborhood bar and a formal performing-arts center. Its owners’ involvement in other River Region hospitality businesses also keeps spending, staffing, catering, and event activity connected to locally operated enterprises. This community impact is a reasonable inference from its booking record and ownership, rather than a published economic study.

Visitor Tips and Information

Public listings identify the property as wheelchair accessible, but the venue has not published a detailed accessibility guide or formal ADA-compliance report. Guests who need a step-free route, accessible table, companion seating, or specific restroom clearance should confirm arrangements before traveling. The venue’s flexible floor layout may allow accommodations, but availability can depend on the event setup.

Age restrictions vary. Many concerts and adult revues are 21 and older, while at least one touring wrestling event was advertised as all ages. Bring government-issued photo identification regardless of the advertised limit. Dress is casual. Bring earplugs for rock shows, keep belongings compact, and arrive 30–60 minutes before the stated performance time if you want food or a favorable general-admission position.

Do not rely on old business hours, an unofficial seating chart, or the former Carl’s Country name when planning. Event announcements should take priority because doors, kitchen service, age rules, seating, photography restrictions, and refund terms can differ substantially from one production to another.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is The Bottom Bar & Grill still open?

Yes. Current 2026 restaurant records, customer reviews, and event announcements show the business operating as The Bottom Bar & Grill, often shortened to The Bottom. Some entertainment databases still label the address as Carl’s Country, but that is the former business name rather than a separate current venue.

What is the correct address: County Road 4 West or East?

Use 426 County Road 4 West, Prattville, AL 36067. A number of older and automated directories display “East,” creating understandable confusion. Current restaurant listings and recent ticketed-event records generally use “West.” Entering the full venue name with the street address provides an additional check before beginning your trip.

What is the capacity of The Bottom?

No reliable official capacity is publicly available. Independent directories give conflicting figures of 200 and 325, and the venue has not published its fire-code occupancy or event-specific limits. Capacity may also change when tables, standing areas, production equipment, or a wrestling setup occupy the floor. Avoid using either directory figure as guaranteed availability.

Is The Bottom a seated venue?

Not consistently. The building normally has restaurant and bar seating, but live events can use general-admission standing room, informal tables, or premium front-row seating. There is no confirmed permanent theater-style seating plan. If sitting is essential, choose a ticket that explicitly includes a seat or seek an accessibility arrangement before the event.

Are events at The Bottom always 21 and older?

No. Many bar concerts, comedy nights, and adult revues are restricted to guests 21 and older, but age limits are set event by event. A 2026 touring wrestling production was advertised as all ages. Never assume that a daytime restaurant visit and an evening ticketed performance follow the same admission rules.

Can I buy tickets at the door?

Sometimes. Archived event notices state that door tickets may be offered when advance inventory remains, but availability is not guaranteed. A small venue can reach its practical limit quickly for recognized touring acts. Advance purchase is the safer approach, especially for reserved front-row packages, comedy, wrestling, reunions, or one-night touring productions.

Does The Bottom charge for parking?

The venue has an associated surface lot, but no current standard parking charge has been published. Older records from the Carl’s Country era described free lot parking, while current touring notices simply state that parking is controlled by the venue. Bring a backup payment method and arrive early rather than assuming unlimited complimentary spaces.

Is there public transportation to The Bottom?

There is no conventional fixed-route bus stopping at the venue. Montgomery’s municipal bus network remains inside Montgomery. Autauga County operates reservation-based rural transportation for county residents, but its model and operating purpose make it unsuitable for most late-night concert trips. Driving, using a designated driver, or arranging rideshare is normally more practical.

Is rideshare available after late shows?

Rideshare services may accept trips in Prattville, but The Bottom has no published pickup zone and driver supply can vary late at night. Request pickup from a safe, visible point near the entrance without obstructing traffic. Scheduling a ride in advance or confirming that a member of your group will remain sober reduces end-of-night uncertainty.

Can I eat dinner during a concert?

Food has been advertised as available during multiple performances, and the venue operates a full kitchen rather than relying only on snacks. However, concert-night menus may be reduced and the kitchen can close before the bar. Arrive well before the headliner if eating is important, particularly when a large audience is expected.

Does The Bottom accept table reservations?

Recent restaurant listings indicate that ordinary reservations are generally not accepted. Ticketed premium seating is different from booking a restaurant table and must be purchased according to that event’s terms. For general admission, arriving early remains the best way to improve your choice of tables or standing position.

Is The Bottom wheelchair accessible?

Public business directories identify the venue as wheelchair accessible, and that designation also appeared under the former Carl’s Country operation. No detailed accessibility map, restroom specification, or independently verified ADA audit is published. Visitors needing a guaranteed step-free route, transfer space, or reserved companion position should verify the specific event configuration beforehand.

What is the bag policy?

No permanent public bag policy has been located. Keep bags small enough to remain under your chair or close to your body in a standing crowd. Touring promoters may impose additional inspection or prohibited-item rules. Avoid bringing outside drinks, weapons, professional recording equipment, or anything that could interfere with other guests or emergency walkways.

Can I take photographs or record video?

The rule depends on the production. At least one touring revue specifically prohibited photographs and video during the performance, while ordinary local music nights may be less restrictive. Follow posted instructions and performer requests. Professional cameras, detachable lenses, flash photography, tripods, and continuous filming should never be assumed acceptable without explicit permission.

Does the venue have a coat check or permanent merchandise stand?

No permanent coat-check service or venue merchandise shop has been publicly documented. Touring performers may sell shirts, posters, or other items from a temporary table, and specialty events sometimes advertise exclusive merchandise. Travel light, because you may need to keep jackets and purchases at your table or carry them throughout a standing performance.

How early should I arrive?

For a regular meal or community activity, 15–30 minutes may be sufficient. For general-admission concerts, arrive 45–60 minutes before showtime if you want food, easier parking, or a favorable view. Premium-ticket instructions may require arrival at least 30 minutes before the performance to retain reserved benefits.

Are shows affected by bad weather?

The primary entertainment area is indoors, so ordinary rain does not automatically cancel a performance. Severe thunderstorms, tornado warnings, flooding, power outages, or unsafe touring conditions can still cause delays or rescheduling. Because the venue uses a surface parking lot and county-road access, allow additional travel time during heavy weather and follow event-specific updates.
