About KM 4.5
“KM 4.5” (Kilómetro 4.5) is a cutting-edge music and cultural project based in San José del Cabo, Baja California Sur, not a fixed traditional stadium but a branded series of pop-up dance events. Founded by local electronic artists Litos and Moses, it has quickly become known for hosting international DJs and live acts in a dramatic outdoor setting. KM 4.5 collaborates with Crania Los Cabos , an avant-garde cocktail bar and “air disco” built from repurposed maritime cranes. Crania’s sculptural, industrial look provides a unique backdrop – it’s described as an “ethereal paradise” where the sound and the architecture merge . In effect, KM 4.5 brings underground electronic music to Los Cabos by transforming this innovative space into a desert dance floor. Events typically blend house, techno, disco and ambient influences with Baja’s raw coastal vibe. By highlighting bold expression (Crania’s design is called “post-funk-tionalism” www.ticketfairy.com ) and creative freedom, KM 4.5 stands out as a beacon of the local music scene.
Events and Programming
A KM 4.5 event night is a full musical experience. The series has hosted acclaimed international names alongside its founders: for example, British producers Fort Romeau and Isolée performed at KM 4.5 events in spring 2022 and 2023 www.ticketfairy.com www.ticketfairy.com . These special bookings mix deep house, techno, disco and experimental sounds – Fort Romeau’s set was noted for fusing house, kraut, ambient and disco elements www.ticketfairy.com . Litos and Moses DJ alongside these guests, creating a confident local lineup. Events usually happen on weekend evenings (often Fridays or Saturdays in Los Cabos’ high season) and run well into the night. KM 4.5 nights may also include unique artistic touches – CATER’s crane-built stage and Crania’s décor of bold murals and lighting create an immersive party atmosphere . Ticket prices have generally ranged at moderate levels (for example, rough equivalents of $30–$60 USD per person) and go on sale in advance online. The organizers often announce shows via their social media or mailing list, and tickets can sell out early for popular acts. (When available, attending unique headliner events will typically cost more than the local lineups.) Every event tends to have a clear theme of embracing music, community and creativity – one even encouraged guests to “come frutas y verduras,” meaning bring fruits and vegetables, reflecting a communal, laid-back vibe www.ticketfairy.com .
Tickets and Booking
Tickets for KM 4.5 events are usually sold online in advance through official channels (the organizers’ website or approved ticketing outlets). There is no traditional box office or onsite ticket sales; you typically need to purchase before the night. Popular shows offer tiered pricing (early bird, general admission, etc.) and may sell out quickly. For the best chance of scoring tickets, watch the KM 4.5 social media pages or subscribe to Crania’s newsletter: announcements are usually made weeks ahead of each event. Once on sale, buy as soon as the release time arrives. Prices may include fees and sometimes even small extras (though note that food/drinks are not included in the ticket – guests should plan to buy from Crania’s bar or eat beforehand). In a few cases, last-minute door tickets might appear, but this is not guaranteed – advance purchase is recommended for popular dates. All ages 18+ are admitted, so ID checks are enforced at the gate. Look for door opening times on the event posting (for example, a typical KM 4.5 event night might open at 10:00 PM). It’s wise to bring a printed or digital copy of your ticket and official ID. If in doubt about availability or seating, contact the hosts early or check if they maintain a waitlist.
Seating and Layout
The KM 4.5 experience at Crania is primarily general admission and standing-room, not fixed theater seating. Crania’s centerpiece is the multi-level “CATE” structure – a stage built from large beachside cranes – which overlooks an open outdoor floor . This circular deck area is surrounded by sand and informal gathering spaces. A limited number of reserved tables (often booked by groups or high-tier ticket holders) ring the stage, so if you prefer a dedicated spot, inquire about table reservations well in advance. Otherwise, arrive early to score a good viewing angle on the dance floor. Because the venue is open-air and informal, expect to stand and dance on sand or the deck, with no fixed allocated seats. Many find that being close to CATE (the elevated platform) offers the best view of DJs and lights. The acoustics can carry outdoors, so most spots are decent for sound and sight. If you want a quieter corner, some guests like to lounge near the bar or by rustic seating areas on the fringe, but remember the main energy is on the floor. Wear comfortable shoe and clear sightlines can be limited by the industrial layout, so it’s best to explore early or go to higher levels for a bird’s eye view. One unusual tip: the event pages suggest “wear comfortable shoes and warm clothes” since desert nights cool off and the ground can be uneven www.ticketfairy.com .
Getting There and Parking
KM 4.5 events take place at Crania Los Cabos, which is located in the Puerto Los Cabos marina area of San José del Cabo (Baja California Sur), just off the Transpeninsular highway. The address is effectively Crania, Marina Puerto, Poblado La Playa, 23403 San José del Cabo . By car, follow the highway north from downtown SJD toward the Puerto Los Cabos turnoff. GPS navigation or ride-share apps (Uber, DiDi) will find the Crania entrance on the coastal road. Note that the very last stretch of road is unpaved and can be dark at night, so drivers caution against walking in – it’s safest to get dropped off right at the gate . Parking is somewhat limited in the sandy lot beside the venue; arrive early if weekend events so as to claim a spot. There is no formal shuttle, so driving or taxi/Uber are the norms. Public buses do not run directly to this remote marina, so plan on a taxi or rental car. For taxi or rideshare drop-offs, use the official Crania entry (“Marina Puerto Los Cabos”); the entrance road is shared with the marina. If driving yourself, watch for any posted parking rules – most reviews advise guests not to stray into private lots. In general, let bandwidth and safety guide you: take a reliable ride at night and double-check that your car is locked while you dance.
Inside the Venue
Upon arrival, you’ll enter the creative-themed haunt through Crania’s entrance and may undergo a quick ID check (18+ events only). The atmosphere inside is singular: part art space, part desert disco. Expect an eclectic, artsy crowd and bold décor – repurposed crane structures loom overhead and street-art murals cover the walls. Lighting can be intense and colorful, contributing to a party-under-the-stars feeling at night. As Crania is also a restaurant and bar, there is a full cocktail menu and an evolving food menu available on site . You can order tapas or entrees from Crania Restaurant with a creative Baja-focused menu, or grab innovative craft cocktails at the bar. (Some KM 4.5 nights do not include dinner, so treating the whole night as a long dance party is common; Crania’s in-house kitchen usually remains open for snacks or dining before/after the main set.) There is no clothing check or coat check; however, there are restroom facilities on site, though during big parties lines may form, so plan ahead. Keep your belongings close, as the vibe is casual but crowded. Photography with phones is common and usually allowed (many guests snap photos), but pro cameras may be restricted by organizers. If you need data service, cellular signal is generally okay in SJD but can be spotty inside the metal structure – sharing pictures or checking mobile tickets can be slower than usual. In short, expect a laid-back but energetic lounge/bar/club hybrid environment: colorful lights, booming sound, creative art installations – all outdoors under the Baja sky.
Nearby Amenities
The Crania/KM 4.5 location is a bit off the main tourist path, but there are dining and lodging options within reach. For pre-event dining, Crania itself serves a contemporary Baja meal (reservations recommended in advance because it’s popular) . Just north along the highway you’ll enter the Los Cabos Resort Corridor, where several hotels (Sheraton Hacienda del Mar, Westin Palmilla, etc.) are located about a 10–15 minute drive from Crania. Downtown San José del Cabo (about 12 km to the south) offers a wide range of restaurants and bars – from seafood grills like Mariscos Panchos to international bistros and lively Mexican cantinas – in its traditional square and Mission district. Many visitors opt to dine in town or stay at a Marina hotel before heading to KM 4.5 by taxi. For post-show drinks or nightlife, downtown SJD has casual bars and lounges that stay open late; Uber and taxi service run until midnight or later, though late-night waits can be long. If you are staying nearby, note that late-night taxis back to hotels can be scarce (call ahead or use apps). There are no public trains or subways in Cabo; driving, hotel shuttle or ridesharing remain the best options. The highway and surrounding area are well lit, but if you do explore on foot (for example, walking between nearby resorts), stay on main roads. In summary, restaurants and hotels are mostly outside a short drive, so plan dinner accordingly, and allow extra travel time returning from late events.
What Makes This Venue Special
KM 4.5 and its host location Crania form a unique cultural landmark in Baja. Their combination of industrial-art architecture and electronic nightlife is unparalleled in the region. Crania was literally built from abandoned shipping cranes, turned into a multi-level ocean-view dance temple www.ticketfairy.com . This gives the whole venue an artistic, almost sci-fi character – you’re literally dancing under giant crane arms. Historically, it stands out because it is more of an experimental “makerspace” than a conventional club. It hosts artist residencies, pop-up workshops and glamping, as well as parties . KM 4.5 brought global underground DJs to this space, bridging Los Cabos to more urban electronic music scenes. As such, the venue has gained a reputation for authenticity and creativity: artists and fans praise its bold design and immersive vibe. For example, one promotion described Crania as “honoring bold expression,” a new perspective where local creativity shines www.ticketfairy.com . Notably, unlike most tourist clubs, KM 4.5 nights are driven by a music-lovers’ ethos – there are no bikini contests or drinking games, just serious dancing. Fans also remember the communal traditions at these events (such as sharing fruit, or dancing barefoot), which add to the inclusive, almost bohemian vibe. In summary, KM 4.5/Crania is beloved by artists and partygoers because of its one-of-a-kind location, high-quality sound under the stars, and the sense of being part of an underground art experiment rather than a standard night out.
Visitor Tips and Information
Accessibility: Crania is not fully wheelchair accessible due to sand and ramps, and has uneven terrain (the “road leading to Crania is unpaved” and can be tricky to navigate ). If you have mobility needs, consider this. The venue is generally family-unfriendly (18+ only), and children are not admitted. What to bring: Valid ID (for age check), cash and cards (the bar accepts credit cards, but smaller stalls or Uber may prefer cash), cell phone with ticket QR code or printout, and layers – desert nights can get cool, so bring a jacket or sweater www.ticketfairy.com . Since the advice “come frutas y verduras” was given at some events www.ticketfairy.com , you could bring snacks or fruit to share, but outside alcohol is not allowed. Dress code: Very casual. Comfortable shoes are a must (sand/dirt floor), and many wear T-shirts or boho attire. Costumes or glow accessories are welcomed by the playful theme. There is no strict dress code beyond appropriate attire. Common mistakes to avoid: Don’t underestimate the journey: don’t plan to walk back to town late at night. Arrange your ride (Uber/taxi) ahead of time. Also, the road is dark; if you arrive by car, watch for unpaved spots. Finally, doors can be far from town, so arrive early if you want dinner or want to buy drinks without long lines. Avoid weather pitfalls: KM 4.5 events are outdoors, so check the forecast. Cabo rarely rains in winter, but if a rare storm looms, confirm if the event goes on. Inside tips: The dance floor can get packed near peak time, so move around to find space. Keep water handy and stay hydrated. If you get disoriented, meet friends near the bar or recognizable art pieces. Tipping is standard in Mexico – tip your bartenders. Finally, embrace the local vibe. Many attendees praise the warmth of Crania’s staff and the community; a little patience (the venue is intimate and at times “weird,” according to reviews) goes a long way to enjoying the night.

Q: What parking and transportation options are there?
A: Parking is available on-site in Crania’s lot, but it’s limited and sandy. Arrive early for weekends to find a space. Uber drop-off right at the entrance is easy and avoids the rough road. Always plan your return ride ahead of time, as nightlife taxis can be scarce late.
Q: Are there restrooms, coat check or lockers available?
A: Yes, Crania provides restroom facilities on site. During big KM 4.5 parties, lines can form, so use them before peak times if possible. There isn’t a formal coat check or luggage storage, so it’s best not to bring large bags. Keep personal items on you or stowed under any nearby table. The venue is fairly rustic, so pack light. International guests might bring melodic techno or classic house to the tent. Crowds dress to dance, so the vibe is energetic and inclusive – imagine a beach-club festival atmosphere. The space itself emphasizes artistic flair, so the overall mood is creative and friendly. Expect an open-minded crowd of music lovers enjoying the “air disco” concept under the Baja night sky .
Q: Is Crania (KM 4.5) open all year, and how often do events run?
A: Crania operates most weekends year-round, but KM 4.5 events are more seasonal, often timed for High Season (winter/spring). The organizers seem to hold a few major nights per season rather than every week. There isn’t a fixed schedule posted far in advance – instead, each event is announced individually. To know when the next KM 4.5 party is, keep an eye on Crania’s event calendar or KM 4.5 social media. Cancun’s off-season (summer/fall) may see fewer events and some off weeks, but Crania sometimes features pop-up gatherings year-round.
Q: Is the venue wheelchair accessible or ADA compliant?
A: Crania’s terrain is mostly open sand, wood decks, and ramps made from recycled materials. It is not fully wheelchair accessible. There are stairs and uneven paths up to the elevated CATE area. If you have mobility needs, it’s important to know this in advance. The venue has flat areas, but roaming might be limited. Interested guests should plan ahead – for example, request assistance at the entrance or visit with a companion to help. As a rule, this is an informal outdoor space, not a standard ADA-compliant theater.
Q: What meals and drinks are available at the event?
A: Crania has a full bar with craft cocktails and local beers, and its on-site kitchen offers an evolving Baja-Mex menu . Many patrons arrive early to dine – the food is highly regarded (even as an “innovative adventure” ). The venue doesn’t typically sell large meals late at night, so if you plan to eat, do so before the headliner set or at nearby restaurants. Snacks or fruit can be kept with you, though – the vibe is relaxed about minimal outside snacks (like fruit or chips) as long as you leave glass bottles and hard liquor outside.
Q: What should I do if I have questions or need help booking?
A: For specific questions about KM 4.5 events or reservations at Crania, the best approach is to contact Crania directly. They usually list an email and phone on their official site or social pages for questions (e.g., Crania Reclaim). Do not rely on random Facebook pages. If you missed tickets, look for announcements or contact the event promoters in advance. Always use the official Crania/KM 4.5 channels for trustworthy info. On event day, venue staff at the entrance can answer basic queries in person.
Q: Are there any rules or restrictions I should know about?
A: Standard nightlife rules apply. Security may check bags at the door; no weapons or professional filming gear are allowed. Smoking (including e-cigarettes) is typically only allowed in outdoor areas. The venue enforces 18+ strictly – no underage exceptions. Late arrival might lose seat options, and re-entry policies vary by event, so plan accordingly. Follow any COVID or health guidelines that Crania or the local government requires (as of 2025, those might be minimal). When in doubt, ask staff on site – they’ll guide you through any dos and don’ts for that night.
