Sprawled across two floors in Delhi’s Hauz Khas area, Summer House Cafe is the city’s go-to venue all days of the week. However, as the weekend approaches, Summer House becomes a venue that packs in crowds of young and seasoned music lovers, hosting some of the country and the world’s prime talent.
According to the official website, Summer House Cafe was first actualized during one particular vacation. During a BBQ session at a Summer House, the one that would go on to inspire Delhi’s beloved venue, founder Ricky Teja realized the experience was one he didn’t want to limit to only a few times every year. His love for Delhi’s energy was the only rival to this, and soon Summer House Cafe came to be. An oasis that felt like an all-year vacation, that you could visit in your city!
The venue boasts a rustic feel, complete with easy chairs and couches, with both an indoor and outdoor area. Treat your eyes to pastel hues and ambient lighting while Delhi bustles on in the background, a sound of comfort most patrons dwell in. Take it easy in the afternoon and amp it up at night, Summer House Cafe has got you covered.
The venue runs from Mondays to Sundays, 12 PM to 1 AM, with various days of the week slated for special events that range from open mics to dance workshops. A highlight of its infrastructure is the bar, crafted out of the shell of an old van!
7/7 days of the week, visitors can expect a unique experience, and a wide variety of food and beverages to match. You will most likely bump into someone you know, with the attendance at Summer House Cafe ranging from first-time visitors to venue frequenters that quickly found home within its walls. Though generally, the weekends tend to be quite packed, a particular event can call upon larger crowds, and rightly so!
Summer House Cafe’s most-known, most-noted event was perhaps the impromptu one from Chris Martin of Coldplay, during July of 2015, when the English singer/songwriter delivered a quick performance for those lucky enough to catch it, accompanied by Indian singers Vishal Dadlani, Raghu Dixit, actress Freida Pinto, and members of Indian comedy collective AIB. However, Summer House Cafe has also featured a variety local and overseas talent, from across the genre sphere.

The venue lists their upcoming events across platforms, namely their Instagram and Facebook accounts, along with a curated list on their official website. A mainstay for local musicians, some of the artists Summer House Cafe has previous hosted are Indian DJ/producer Sound Avtar, Slovak producer Jimmy Pe, Scottish DJ Eclair Fifi, Indian musicians Delhi Sultanate & Begum X, and many more.
You can expect stellar line-ups on the weekends with Summer House regularly collaborating with label and programming heavy-weights such as Indian independent labels Krunk and Qilla Records, Indian online radio Boxout.fm, and liquor brand Budweiser. The venue has also featured artists from across genres from electronica, house, big room, techno, underground, afro, and bass to experimental, singer/songwriters, and stand-up comedy. There’s something for everyone, all year round!

On the food menu, Summer House Cafe primarily has a range of Continental, North Indian and Chinese dishes, along with a selection of Fast Food, beverages and shakes. From a boast-worthy All Day Breakfast section, various sharing plates, burgers, sandwiches, soup sand salads, to drool-worthy pizzas, pastas and mains, patrons are spoiled for choice! Their most unique offerings are their take on chaat (Indian street food), namely the Pineapple Chaat, the Banoffee Pie and the Chicken Lasagna.
On the drinks menu, you can find all your favorites; cocktails, sangrias, beers and wines, shots and spirits. Order up a round of Patron Silver for you and your friends, or get dizzy with the LIIT, the choices are all yours! Happy Hours are from 12 PM to 7 PM.
