Keep Every Hour Busy and Every Screening Full

A day ticket brings a crowd at opening and a quiet afternoon. Sell entry by the hour instead of by the day: lay out every slot across your season in one step, give each slot its own capacity and price, and visitors book the day and time they come. You see sales and arrivals for every slot and move a visitor to another time on the order they already have. Running a film festival? Plan films, cinemas and screenings beside the passes and tickets you sell.

  • Visitors spread across the whole day
  • Each slot and screening kept within its capacity
  • Sales and arrivals for every entry time

Lay Out a Whole Season of Entry Times in One Step

Museums, galleries, immersive attractions, tours and food festivals sell entry by the hour, so the space never overfills and the queue outside stays short. Turn on time slots for a ticket type, then choose your date range, the weekdays you open, your first and last entry time, the slot length, the price and how many visitors each slot takes. Generate Slots lays out every slot for you.

Leave out the dates you are closed with Exclude Specific Dates, and let a late slot end the next day for an evening event. Add a new run of dates later with Generate time slots on the same ticket type, and the new slots join the same calendar. Make one ticket type for each kind of entry, such as General entry and Members, and each gets its own slots. Delete the slots you no longer sell, or deactivate a slot to keep it for later, so visitors only see the times you are open.

  • Generate Slots: every entry time across your dates in one step
  • Exclude Specific Dates: closed days left out before the slots are made
  • Slot can end the next day: late sessions that run past midnight

Price and Fill Every Slot on Its Own Terms

Every slot sells out on its own count, so one busy hour never blocks the rest of the day. Edit Time Slot changes one slot's price or capacity, so a Saturday morning can cost more than a Tuesday afternoon, or a school group can have a larger slot. On your Tickets page, the Time Slots card shows each date's slots with their price, maximum sales and the stock left.

Deactivate takes a slot off sale without removing it, which suits a private booking or a cleaning break, and Activate puts it back. For an evening rate shared by many slots, generate a second run at that price. Run a promotion for the days and slots you choose, and your quiet hours get a reason to fill.

  • Edit Time Slot: its own price or capacity
  • Deactivate: a slot off sale and kept for later
  • Promotions for chosen slots: a discount on the quiet days and times

Let Visitors Pick a Date and a Time in Seconds

Your event page shows a calendar of the dates that still have a time on sale. A visitor picks a date, sees each entry time with its price and picks one. A full time stays on the list, greyed out and marked sold out, so the visitor chooses the next time and your quieter hours fill up.

  • Date calendar: only the dates with a time still on sale
  • Entry times: each time with its own price
  • Sold-out times: greyed out, so visitors pick the next one

See Sales and Arrivals for Every Slot

On a time-slot event, Sales by Time Slot opens first in Performance and lists the sales and revenue for every slot start, so you can see the hours to promote. On the day, the Ticket Type tab of your check-in page groups arrivals by date, then time, then ticket type, and Sales by Promoter offers By Time Slot to show which promoter sold each slot.

Ask Fai, the assistant inside your dashboard, how busy each slot is today, and she reads back the arrivals for every slot on the date you name. Use it to move staff to the door before a busy hour or to decide whether a late slot is worth running.

  • Sales by Time Slot: sales and revenue for every slot start
  • Arrivals by slot: check-ins grouped by date, time and ticket type
  • By Time Slot for promoters: which promoter sold each slot
  • Ask Fai: how busy each slot is on a date

Move a Visitor to Another Time Without a New Order

Plans change, and a family who cannot make Saturday at eleven can still come on Sunday afternoon. Change Time Slot on their order moves the ticket to the date and time you choose, and they get a replacement ticket for the new slot with a new barcode while the old ticket stops working. Your visitor keeps their order, and your capacity counts stay right.

Give staff, press and guests a slot of their own with Upload Time Slot Guest Tickets, which takes the date and time along with each name. A crew pass suits people who come and go all day.

  • Change Time Slot: a replacement ticket for the new slot
  • New barcode: the old ticket stops working at the door
  • Guest tickets for a slot: the name, date and time together

Plan Your Film Festival Programme

A film festival runs on its programme: which film shows in which cinema, when, and for how many people. Set your event type to a film festival in the Event Operating System and your planning sections become Filmmakers, Cinemas and Screenings, with the schedule laid out cinema by cinema across each day. Your programme team, your box office and your guest desk work from the same schedule.

Add each cinema, then schedule each screening into it with a start time. Filmmakers keep their contacts, travel and hospitality with them, the way artists do at a music festival. Press and industry passes run through Accreditation, with their own approvals and badges. Add each film with its running time, synopsis, poster and press kit, mark its premiere, and follow each submission from submitted through under review to accepted or rejected.

  • Filmmakers: contacts, travel and hospitality for each guest
  • Cinemas: each room in your programme
  • Screenings: each day, cinema by cinema
  • Accreditation: press and industry passes with approvals

Sell the Pass or Screening Each Festival-Goer Wants

Some of your audience want everything, some want one day, and some want one film. Sell an all-access pass and day passes as ticket types, and sell a single screening as its own ticket type or as a time slot on a screening day. For numbered cinema seats, add a seat map event for each screening and a main seat map for passes that hold one seat across the festival.

Run premieres, encores and industry screenings beside your public ones, each at its own price. Hide a press or delegate ticket type from your event page and open it with an access code, so only the people you choose can buy it.

  • Festival and day passes: ticket types for the whole festival or one day
  • Single screenings: a ticket type or time slot for each film
  • Seats for each screening: a seat map event per showing

Ask Fai to Build and Change Your Programme

Ask Fai, the assistant inside your dashboard, to add a film with its running time, add a cinema with its seats or schedule a screening. She works out when each screening ends from the film's running time and any Q&A after it, and refuses a screening that overlaps another in the same cinema, naming the film it clashes with. She shows you every change and makes it only once you approve.

Fai also sets up festival passes, including a credit pass that books a set number of screenings, reviews press and industry accreditation requests, and reads back reservations and the audience rankings, where films are listed by their average star rating from the people who watched them.

  • Films, cinemas and screenings: added in a sentence
  • Clash check: no two screenings in one cinema at once
  • Audience rankings: films in order of their average rating
  • You approve each change: nothing changes until you say so

How Organisers Sell Timed Entry and Screenings

  • A Museum Exhibition

A gallery generates half-hour slots for a twelve-week exhibition, closed on Mondays. Weekend mornings sell out first, so the team raises those slots' price with Edit Time Slot and runs a promotion on weekday afternoons.

  • An Immersive Attraction

An immersive show caps each slot at the size of one group and lets the last slot end after midnight. The door team reads arrivals by slot and has the next group ready as the previous one finishes.

  • A Food Festival

A food festival sells morning, afternoon and evening sessions for each day of the weekend. When a visitor emails to switch to Sunday, the box office uses Change Time Slot and the visitor's new ticket arrives straight away.

  • A Film Festival

A ten-day festival asks Fai to schedule eighty screenings across four cinemas. Fai refuses one screening that overlaps another, names the clash, and the programmer moves it to the next free cinema.

  • A Family Attraction in the Holidays

A farm park adds a run of holiday dates to its existing slots with Generate time slots. The new dates join the same calendar on the event page, and nobody has to rebuild the ticket.

Questions About Timed Entry and Film Festival Tickets

Timed entry & film

Ticket Fairy creates the slots after you save the ticket type, and they appear on your Tickets page within a minute or two. A season with hundreds of slots takes a little longer.

A single run lays slots end to end. Generate the morning and the afternoon as two runs, or deactivate the slot you need clear.

Deactivate its slots from the Time Slots card. Ticket Fairy can delete a slot, a date or a whole group for you, but nothing is deleted if any of those slots has sold, and a delete cannot be undone.

Only to someone they know. A visitor can pass a timed ticket to a friend through resale, but cannot offer it to the public. You can also move a visitor to another slot from their order.

The check-in overview leaves out the sales totals on a time-slot event. Use the Ticket Type tab of the check-in page, and Sales by Time Slot in Performance, for those numbers.

Yes. In the Ticket Fairy mobile app you can create time slots, edit a slot and take a slot off sale. Promo codes, reports and guest tickets that pick particular slots are set up in the dashboard.

From the film's running time, plus the Q&A when the screening has one. A Q&A with no length set adds 15 minutes. You can also give her the end time yourself.

An all-access pass, a day pass, a pass for the cinemas you choose and a credit pass with a set number of screenings. Each pass can have the date and time it starts and stops working.

Every reservation on it is cancelled, including people already checked in, and each screening credit goes back to its pass so the holder can reserve another film.

Yes. Give that screening its own number of seats, for example to keep rows back for guests. Every other screening in the cinema keeps the cinema's number.
